In the end credits scene of Thor the Dark World we saw Benicio del Toro’s the Collector for the first time and we learned that the Aether (the red thing that Malekith used) and the Tesseract (from the Avengers) are two infinity stones. One is being kept in the Collector’s chambers and the other one in Asgard.

The Aether is clearly the Power gem, which in the comics gives lots of strenght. I think this due to the fact that it gave strenght to Malekith’s soldiers during the battle against Thor’s grandfather Bor. It also gave strenght to Kurse and it was very clear that this was an infinity stone when Kurse moved the trayectory of Mjolnir (the hammer). It’s true that the Aether also opened some kind of portal thing to make the world dark or something (i don’t have any idea what Malekith wanted to do) and that doesn’t have anything to do with making people more strong but that’s just to adapt Malekith’s plan from the comics that was something similar and introduce another infinity gem to the MCU at the same time. Plus, it’s red, like the power gem.

The tesseract/cosmic cube is probably the space gem because:
1. It created a wormhole in the avengers. A portal that comunicated two spots in the universe.
2. It teleported the Red Skull somewhere. ‘Cause don’t dare say he is dead.
3. Now, this might sound a little too much but: What if the Red Skull’s weapons in WW2 created by the tesseract didn’t have destructive power and they only teleported people? When you think about it, when a HYDRA soldier shot someone they just dissapeared, they didn’t bleed. Maybe they were teleporting them somewhere? I don’t know, it’s just a theory. Go to 1:54 and 2:54 of this video to see it.

4. It was revealed in the end credit scene that the person who hired Loki to get the tesseract was Thanos, and Thanos is looking for the infinity gems so it makes sense.
5. In the comics, the space gem is purple, similar to blue.

Now for the third infinity stone. The mind gem. Loki’s staff!

It could control minds so what else do you need? The other told Loki: “he put the scepter in you hand”. That’s Thanos, my friends, who apparently alredy found the mind gem and gave it to Loki to get the space gem in the Avengers. Plus, it’s blue, like in the comics. It’s true that Loki tried to get into Iron Man’s mind but couldn’t but that’s just to make another funny scene. But if you take this very seriously, then we could say that he didn’t use it properly or that the gems don’t hold that much power in the movies version.

I believe this thing in the image below that will be important in the Guardians of the Galaxy plot is also an infinity stone. I heard from a guy in the comments section of an article that he heard this thing contains the power to destroy the universe, so my guess is that it’s the reality gem. I know this doesn’t seem believable but lots of details of info leaks and i don’t like to read it because i like to get surprised in the theatre but i heard it from this guy. But yeah, it would be perfectly normal that that fact got released. Anyways (maybe i just shouldn’t have mentioned it), the thing is, it’s clear that this is an infinity stone and my guess is that it's the reality gem. The fourth gem in the MCU.

From now on, this is gonna contain Captain America the Winter Soldier mid credit scene spoilers so if you are not going to continue and you want to leave a comment go below very quickly so you can read anything. Thanks for reading, I am BaronZemo.

Okay, you’ve stayed? Great. So, apparently, now Hydra is ruled by Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker as seen in the end of the Winter Soldier and they have Loki’s scepter. That means they also have the mind gem and my guess is that they will use it to make the Hulk angry and turn it against the Avengers in Avengers. Age of Ultron as seen in this concept art.

Conclusion: The MCU is a nutshell.
So, did you like my article? Did you think it was interesting? Did you enjoyed reading it? Thanks for reading. I am BaronZemo. And have a nice day ‘cause you deserve it. Stay tuned!

I think it's been mentioned every time this comes up, but it's hard to understand why Thanos would give one gem in exchange for another. He wants them all. Not to say this is incorrect, but that's an issue that would have to be clarified.

I think Guardians of the Galaxy is the reality gem and the time gem will be hinted at in Ant Man, the soul gem will be in Doctor Strange -perhaps even the eye of agamotto

Yeah man. Good write up but this stuff has been said over and over again. No new theories here.

My theory is that Thanos just doesn't see Loki as a threat.

Good write up except for the part about the aether, the aether didnt power the kursed, it was dark elf tech that sort of resembled extremis, also the aether didnt create the portals, the portals were created by the convergence of the nine realms. Malekieth wanted return the universe to an age of darkness like he had when he was a child i would assume.

I think the Mind gem is in the staff. We saw it's effects in Avengers and I think BV Strucker is using it on the twins, to control them...somehow. As for Thanos giving the staff/gem away, I think he intended to get it back, assuming Loki would crush Earth easily. Now that the staff is on Earth, it's a good plot point as to why Thanos would come to Earth, to get the final gem...to complete the gauntlet.

As for the GotG item, I think it's the time gem.

Yeah the jewel in Loki's scepter is definitely the Mind Gem.

When I saw Cap 2 there was this one dude who yelled out "I've never seen Jennifer Connelly in a movie in so long!" When Maria Hill rescued Cap, Falcon and Natasha

@Starkasm

That's probably completely true, but if Loki failed (which he did), then the scepter and this stone would fall into other hands (which it did). BUT...hey, maybe this will tie in with Red Skull somehow and everything will have a big fat bow on it.

I remember when my brother in law saw Avengers in the theater, and he saw Thanos turn and smile at the end, he shouted, "Yeah! Red Skull, baby!!!" I just smiled and kept quiet. I get enough ribbing from my in-laws as it is.

I hope the tesseract is either the mind gem, or it somehow becomes purple to become the space gem haha.

i think phase 3 will be the collector, thanos and red skull in a race for finding the infinity stones.

@AlexanderLykins

I've actually heard that theory, and can totally see the validity in it. That whatever outcome Loki achieved, he was satisfied. Either he rules Midgard, or gets taken back to Asgard and finds a way to SPOILER!!! rule as Odin. If that's actually the case, and Loki had it planned that way all along (which does make sense, since why does he really want to rule Midgard anyway?) then yeah...it's playing out as he wanted, and he and Thanos are conceivably still in cahoots.

Didnt fury say the spear was definitely powered by the tesseract in Avengers
Lhornbk
Lhornbk - 4/20/2014, 11:43 PM
@inkslinger616, I don't remember if he said "powered" or used a different word. But, it was very clear in Avengers that the crystal in the sceptre and the Tesseract were somehow linked. They look similar, and the sceptre was able to penetrate the force field of the Tesseract, which the scientist said was because it couldn't defend against itself. So either that means that all these infinity gems/stones are connected and can be used against each other, and the sceptre is one, or it means that the gem in the sceptre is just a piece of the Tesseract or at least has the same chemical/atomic composition, but is not a separate infinity gem. My guess is that it has the same composition, but was too small and was not a true infinity gem, which is why Thanos gave it to Loki, for a chance at the real one. As for its mind control potential, it is possible that only Loki could use it that way, that it was a combination of the stone's power and Loki's natural magical abilities. That would seem to contradict the TWS credit scene, but I don't think the twins are being controlled. Why have them in cells if they're controlled by the sceptre? No, it looked like they had it hooked up and were trying to use it some other way.

Hahaha Holy shit! :D I didn't thought of that! Hank Pym getting back to our world! Man, now that i think about it, they could do some crazy things with the time gem in that movie.

The Aether wasn't red. It gave off red energy but it was actually black. ANyway, the Aether is the reality gem not the power gem. It would fufill Malekith's wish to turn the world back int darkness and I guess it fufilled Jane's wish to be protected. The power gem will most likely be what gives powers to the inhumans and maybe be the Terrigen mist. Maybe it's a crystal that produces that mist without melting itself. The orb in Gotg will most likely be the Time gem and the Soul Gem will probably appear in Thor 3 being used by Hela. Then it will fall in the hands of either Adam Warlock or Doctor Strange.

The Cosmic Cube is the Tesseract, it's not an infinity Gem. I do believe the Mind Gem is on the Chitari spear. But i definitely don't believe the tesseract is a gem I hope they delve into the Infinity guantlet in the Marvel Cosmic films. because without it you can't do Adam Warlock.

Also I agree that The spear will be used to control the Hulk which will have Iron Man forced to launch him into Space leading to Hulk 2: World War. In Phase 3. I think the Spear will be used by Ultron and Hydra and the Avengers will work together to defeat Ultron which will end with Iron Man recreating Shield with himself in charge this time calling it HAMMER.

Well if they confirmed that the tesseract is a cosmic cube I will say they messed it up. because Thanos also went after the cosmic cube. Also I think if they are going for Marvel Cosmic than they need to introduce more gems in a more obvious way. Instead of going back and retconning it. Which then makes me wonder with Avengers 3 be Infinity Gauntlet based or will it be Marvel Civil War based? watching TWS i felt like it was all building toward Marvel Civil war and Iron Man vs Captain America and Cap's assassination at the hands of a brainwashed Sharon Carter.

Haven't heard this before :P

Loki's Scepter could be the mind gem, but it is WAY underpowered compared to the other gems. The Power Gem can turn the entire universe dark. The Space Gem can instantly transport you across the universe. As for the scepter, it has to touch someone in order to work. Notice how the sentences about the first 2 gems have the word UNIVERSE in it while the scepter sentence does not.
