LANTERNS Logo Officially Revealed As Fresh Wave Of Trailer Speculation Begins

The logo for Lanterns has been officially revealed, and while it's not the most exciting design, it's reignited speculation about a trailer for the DC Studios/HBO series being imminent.

All we've seen from Lanterns so far is a single official image and a few seconds of footage from an HBO Max sizzle reel. We still don't know what threat Hal Jordan and John Stewart will face, or what their Green Lantern Corps costumes look like.

The series is expected to be pretty grounded, meaning it likely won't be the cosmic adventure that some fans are hoping for. There's also a good chance that Lanterns will mark Hal's one and only DCU appearance, as actor Kyle Chandler has reportedly signed up for this series alone.

Short of Hal becoming the villainous Parallax, casting a 60-year-old as the hero was a good indication from the start that DC Studios intends to focus on John as this shared world's main Green Lantern.

Today, a first look at the official Lanterns logo has been revealed. It's a pretty unexciting effort, albeit one that carries a similar design language to those for Superman and Supergirl

As you might expect, this logo reveal has led to speculation that a trailer for Lanterns could be imminent. The show is targeting a late summer launch, so it wouldn't hurt to get a sneak peek out soon that builds excitement among fans.

Discussing the series in January, Chandler said, "I've not had so much fun shooting something as I did that. The people on it were absolutely wonderful, from the top to the bottom. I can't say enough about Chris Mundy and the producers and the DC folks."

"It was an excellent experience, and I expect the show to be as good as the experience I had [making it]," he continued. "Aaron Pierre, I worked with him, and we had a great time. And Kelly  Macdonald, it was just fantastic."

Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Chris Mundy (True Detective: Night Country) is serving as showrunner and executive producer and will write Lanterns with Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) and comic book scribe Tom King (Supergirl). The cast includes Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, and Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro.

Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Nicole Ari Parker, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones round out the cast.

Lanterns is set to premiere on HBO in 2026.

This is insane. I’m now 1000% convinced James Gunn has been a plant this whole time seeded by Kevin feige himself to go destroy DC characters forever. He can’t not be trolling. Saying flash is the best super hero movie ever made and then hiring that dogshit writer Christina Blowjob hodsun who blew her way in. Idk how the hell else she possibly could still be getting work after the atrocious movies she’s written….. all of that and now the goddamn lantern logo is blue! He’s a plant !

I hate everything that Gunn and the new DCFU are doing to Green Lantern. They can fack themselves and die.

@DocSpock - RIP Hal. Hal won't get his story told unless this is such a massive success it warrants a prequel.

@Baf -

That is the truth. Whenever they have 2 characters who are great characters, modern Hollywood will step on or kill the white guy and elevate the black guy. As in Green Lantern in Lanterns and Mr. Miracle. And after he spent about 40 years in the comics in the form of a white guy detective, modern media has Martian Manhunter being black.

Wish this was a movie with Ryan Reynolds if they are just going to phase out Hal from the start. The fact Reynolds wasn't tied to Snyder and had a lighter feel would have worked.

There's 70 years of awesome, jaw-dropping cosmic wonder they could be adapting.

Instead, Gunn has decided to make an Earth-bound story about how the white man must give up his power to the black man as his time is ending. (there's only 1 ring in the show, John is Hal's replacement instead of his peer)

@TDKRnry88 - this guy blatantly brings up race in his comment but will get no flak from the clowns on this site who attack me for daring to speak up against clowns like this. in fact you will probably be accused of being a racists for bringing up the fact that this guy clearly made a racist comment.

@CrimsonComet40 - To be fair half and half of his stories are earth based. In fact my favorite run took place primarily on Earth and had EIGHT Green Lanterns based here.

“There's also a good chance that Lanterns will mark Hal's one and only DCU appearance, as actor Kyle Chandler has reportedly signed up for this series alone.”

And this is why I (a die hard Hal Jordan fan) am not excited for this show.

Also, shit logo.

TDKRnry88 - 2/16/2026, 9:26 AM
@Odekahn - To me, what they're doing with Hal is a red flag. I don't see why he couldn't be a 5 - 7 years older than Clark Kent or John Stewart & he be John's training officer, but have him be a recurring character after season 1 so that he could be off in other sectors.
Odekahn
Odekahn - 2/16/2026, 10:44 AM
@TDKRnry88 - that would be better than what they’re doing, but there’s no good reason that Hal shouldn’t be the main GL. He’s the most popular by far and what the vast majority of GL fans want. Stupid decisions this early is a giant red flag. Can’t believe I actually hope this tanks.
GarthRanzz
GarthRanzz - 2/16/2026, 11:30 PM
@Odekahn - Yep. I like John Stewart but this is why it took me like 5 years to watch the Justice League cartoon. It was even worse as they totally changed John's character. But I wanted Hal.
ReverseFlasher
ReverseFlasher - 2/17/2026, 10:28 AM
@GarthRanzz - yep that is the story of why you WASTED five years NOT enjoying something that is objectively great superhero fiction.

So maybe this time dont judge til youve seen at least a little more than a few press releases and single promo photo?
Odekahn
Odekahn - 2/17/2026, 11:09 AM
@GarthRanzz - I totally get it. I wanted Hal too. I don’t put that cartoon on for my kids for that simple reason. I want them to know Hal as the main GL before they are introduced to other GLs. Good thing we have the GL Animated Series (which was awesome).
GarthRanzz
GarthRanzz - 2/22/2026, 11:04 PM
@ReverseFlasher - Didn't like they went with Wally either for the record. Didn't like the Superman animated show went with Kyle either. What's wrong with going the main guy? Flash was even worse because Wally's origins are impossible to do if you dont do Barry first.
UltimaRex
UltimaRex - 2/16/2026, 9:16 AM
I still think they're going to keep Hal around for Kingdom Come.

They're not casting Alan Scott.
