UPDATE: VisionQuest D23 Display Reveals First Look At A Mysterious Fiery Figure - Is This Jim Hammond?

UPDATE: We still don't know for sure if the fiery figure below is Jim Hammond (it seems highly likely), but the Scarlet Witch's (Elizabeth Olsen) costume has now been added to the display, and we also have a new look at Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) on his throne via an Avengers: Doomsday theater standee.

Original story follows.

The first teaser for VisionQuest is expected to be released online following its debut at D23 on Friday, but in the meantime, we have a new look at the Disney+ WandaVision spin-off via some photos of the show's display.

The display spotlights the White Vision's suit, as well as some concept art featuring a mysterious fiery figure in the center of a room (or a town?) engulfed in flames.

Is the original Human Torch, Jim Hammond, set to make his MCU debut in VisionQuest

Hammond was a synthetic human created by Professor Phineas T. Horton, and served as a member of The Invaders during WWII. We know this show will spotlight various android and AI characters, so this classic hero's inclusion would make sense.

If you look closely at this character's chest and shoulder in the image below, the design does resemble the costume Hammond donned in his later comic book appearances.

VisionQuest is set to premiere on October 14, 2026. You'll find a brief description of the teaser that debuted during Disney's Upfronts in May below via The Wrap.

“We see Bettany in his human form, essentially watching Vision’s memories like a film. When last we saw him, he was the White Vision that we saw fly off at the end of WandaVision. He’s been given his memories back without having lived them, so now he’s trying to figure out his humanity once more, noting he has none of the emotions the first Vision did. There to help him — and taunt him — is Ultron, once again voiced by James Spader. But Spader also appears in human form too."

Bettany revealed what excited him most about VisionQuest last year.

“One of the things that’s fun about that is that we finally get to see what it’s like inside Vision’s mind, and it’s more cluttered than you would think. He’s clearly been saving and copying and pasting [the AIs] to keep them alive inside his head. One of them, of course, has to be kept behind a pretty impressive firewall because he’s a psychopath. But he’s a clever one.”

This "psychopath" is almost certainly Ultron, but the Age of Ultron villain is far from the only AI character that'll factor into the story.

Emily Hampshire (Schitt's Creek, 12 Monkeys, The Rig) also joined the cast as a human version of E.D.I.T.H. (Even Dead, I'm The Hero). This tech was created by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) before being passed on to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) following Iron Man's demise in Avengers: Endgame.

Kerry Condon was rumored to appear as F.R.I.D.A.Y. in human form, but we recently learned that Picard's Orla Brady will actually play the role. James D'Arcy will also be back as Edwin Jarvis in some capacity.

T’nia Miller (Foundation, The Fall of the House of Usher, La Fortuna) is set to play the Bride of Ultron, Jocasta, who is described as "cunning, powerful and driven by revenge."

Finally, Ruaridh Mollica's "Tucker" will be the vessel for Tommy Maximoff, aka Speed.

I could see it being a version of the Jim Hammond Human Torch or perhaps they go the recent Ultimate comics route where he became the Vision of that universe…

However in this scenario , I could see White Vision in search of a new identity taking on the alias “Jim Hammond” and making a new humanoid body for himself perhaps?.

Anyway , I’m intrigued by this show & looking forward to the teaser tomorrow!!.

@TheVisionary25 - I could see Vision taking in it on as human identity, but I prefer Jim Hammond being a character he comes across in his own journey who gives him some valuable insights

That would be a sick addition to the cast honestly, another synthetic man plus marvel’s first ever hero? Sounds great

This should have aired years ago.

@Ikusa - I pray this happens and you're absolutely right. I'd been patiently waiting for the OG Torch since CATFA and eventually just gave up hope they'd ever do anything with him.

I'd like to think that somewhere in an alternate multiverse, a dope-ass, 9-episode Disney+ Invaders series with Jim Hammond, Steve Rogers, Bucky and (a different actor playing) Namor and their short-lived, clandestine WWII adventures exist

@PeterDarker121 - Why recast Namor?

@Loohnutick - I reckon stating the obvious facts that it's not comic accurate and that the dude is not that good of an actor won't be enough for you right?

If this was a DC show the article would say "introducing a largely forgotten character in a time when fans want the more popular heroes".

The continued use of the term ‘human form’ makes me think most of this is just going to be Paul Bettany sat there with James Spader doing voice overs whilst we all rewatch previously shot footage. I want it to be really great but we have been let down so many times now with these D- shows.

It would be really great to see the original Human Torch though, I hope they pick up on him being in the Stark Expo and don’t waste him.

No mention to the fact that he was in the First Avenger in the article.... lazy work
