For the time being, Marvel Studios is focusing on the launch of Loki, but What If? is still expected to arrive on Disney+ this summer. August is the rumoured premiere month, but a specific date hasn't been shared yet (something tells us the events of Loki are going to better explain the animated series' existence).
Now, The Illuminerdi has shared some more rumoured details about what's to come in the show, specifically regarding plans for an alternate version of Gamora.
We've seen the GOTG member in promo art for What If?, while some leaked images indicated that she'll don a version of the armour Thanos wore during Avengers: Endgame's final battle. While we still don't know the premise of her episode, the site claims that Gamora's "skills will be put to the test against a new and unusual target in the form of Tony Stark."
Tony Stark and Gamora never crossed paths in live-action, and we can't help but wonder whether this pre-Guardians of the Galaxy version of the assassin comes to Earth after her "father" Thanos was killed by the nuclear bomb Iron Man sent through that wormhole in The Avengers.
That's pure speculation on our part, though, and it's certainly going to be fun to see what alternate timelines Marvel Studios decides to explore and expand on in What If? this summer.
