BOX OFFICE: Will CARS 3 Dethrone WONDER WOMAN In North America This Weekend?
The Mummy failed to knock Wonder Woman from the top spot last weekend, but will Pixar's Cars 3 do what Tom Cruise couldn't? Hit the jump for the latest projections for week three...
Wonder Woman has enjoyed two weeks at the top of the North American box office, but as expected, the Amazon Warrior looks set to be knocked from #1 by Cars 3. The animated feature from Disney and Pixar is eyeing a debut of $55 million and that's going to be enough for it to topple Diana Prince.
The Hollywood Reporter doesn't share any projections for Wonder Woman, but it's not all bad news for the DC Comics adaptation (not that being pushed down a couple of places after such a strong start is anything to be ashamed of). The movie will top Doctor Strange's domestic haul tonight with over $227 million and analysts believe it will finish its run at the box office with upwards of $350 million in total.
Wonder Woman's current worldwide cume is $469.4 million and it should pass $500 million tomorrow and $550 million by Sunday. That's a great result and far exceeds initial expectations for the movie.
