Knee-deep in post-production on one of next summer's most highly-anticipated films, Marvel's The Avengers, director Joss Whedon recently discussed his vision for another comic book movie adaptation; one that he was signed on to write and direct for Warner Bros. in 2003. Essentially reiterating his big-screen treatment for Wonder Woman, read on below.

He told Rookie that his Diana was "a little bit like Angelina Jolie. She sort of traveled the world. She was very powerful and very naïve about people, and the fact that she was a goddess was how I eventually found my in to her humanity and vulnerability," he says.

"She would look at us and the way we kill each other and the way we let people starve and the way the world is run and she'd just be like, 'None of this makes sense to me. I can’t cope with it, I can’t understand, people are insane.'"

"Ultimately her romance with Steve was about him getting her to see what it’s like not to be a goddess, what it’s like when you are weak, when you do have all these forces controlling you and there’s nothing you can do about it. That was the sort of central concept of the thing. Him teaching her humanity and her saying, okay, great, but we can still do better."

Although Warner Bros. failed in adapting DC's Amazon Princess to the small screen, they have expressed strong interest in bringing Diana to the big screen. And while Whedon stated his 2007 adaptation failed because he and Warner "just saw different movies, and at the price range this kind of movie hangs in, that's never gonna work.". However, like Whedon, Danish film director, & screenwriter Nicolas Winding Refn has been detailing his vision for the movie countless times, even in unrelated interviews. Anyhow, would you like to see Whedon's big-screen treatment someday?
