No Ian McKellen in Magneto Movie

Instead, the breakout X-Men film will center on the younger days of the master of magnetism.

Don’t expect fan favorite Ian McKellen to put on his metal helmet again for the spin off Magneto film now in the planning stages.

"It’s going to take place from 1939 Auschwitz up to 1955 or so," writer Sheldon Turner told Entertainment Weekly. That would make the film a "period prequel" to the X-Men movies, the article points out.

Examining the evil mutant’s “psychological roots” is Turner’s intent and the plot will, of course, also deal with his friendship turned sour with Charles Xavier (Professor X).
