Daniel Craig Wants Skyfall To Be The "Perfect" James Bond Movie

Daniel Craig returns as James Bond for a third time in director Same Mendes' Skyfall, and discusses how they're going back to the character's roots in order to come up with the "perfect" 007 movie.

While Casino Royale was met with almost unanimous praise from fans and critics alike, Quantum of Solace didn't fare quite so well despite being the highest grossing movie of the franchise. Perhaps that's why Daniel Craig is now determined that Skyfall will be the "perfect" film, and in a recent interview with GQ (via MTV) he talked about getting the next instalment just right.

"There’s a perfect Bond movie out there. And I’m going to find it if it kills me. Which it might. I have to be that way about it. The script that we have at the moment, and this is not just actor hyperbole, I’m genuinely excited about it, " he said. "There’s a really good hook. In fact, we now have two or three really good hooks, two might work and that’s what you want. That’s what we had in Casino."

Fans of the Ian Fleming novels will be pleased to hear that Craig believes staying faithful to their tone and direction will help guarantee success in the latest 007 adventure this time directed by Sam Mendes. "Ultimately because it’s based on source material, the book had those hooks. We’ve got those in this script and as long as we hit those, the rest of it is hopefully going to come together." Filming is currently ongoing and Skyfall will be released worldwide from October 2012.

Pumped for Skyfall, loved Casino Royale to bits...Quantum of Solace not at all. Hope it's not a jarring transition, going from the tone of the previous two to something a little more in line with the original Bond movies.

GO GO GADGET!!! I miss the good ol' gadget fun 007. Hope they bring in some and not stoopid ones.

@Misterfan

In a world where there is gadgets galore in real life, I think your right, it would be great to see some realistic gadgets make an appearance. As you said, dont make them stupid and over the top, make them that they could realistically exist now or someday soon

I hope there is more of a balance to this movie, a gritty Bond movie (like Casino Royale) but with more classic Bond elements added

I still wish they would remake all the other books again because in some of the original movies so much was changed from the original books so the plot would be so much different this time around. Just do a Casino Royale and take it directly from the book but update it to the 21st century. I know a lot of people would be against my idea because "not another remake" syndrome but personally I would just really like to see it

Great actor, great series, but it desperately needs something added; gadgets yes - but kept within the realms of possibility. No invisible cars . . .

Loved them all, first I heard of haters of Quantum of Solace because it was brilliant.

Quantum of Solace had good acting and an alright script, and a few exciting action scenes, but the editing in the action scenes was horrible. It felt like Bond-as-Bourne, but the Bourne movies are still the only movies to really pull-off the shaky-cam thing. Part of why everyone loved Casino Royale, part of why it felt like a breath of fresh air, was the incredible action scenes, which were all well-staged and shot in a way where you could actually TELL WHAT WAS HAPPENING.

I'll still take it over any of the Roger Moore movies though. Excited about the new one too.

The thing is, the perfect Bond movie has already been made. It's called Casino Royale. Sometimes it also goes by Goldfinger.

Can't wait. I hope they don't overdo the gadgets though. They only need 2 or 3 at the most.

Well, this better be so. His era is the era I love the most (I indeed don't come from the '60s era but I have seen nearly all Bond movies, and saying that I still prefer his era over any others), and Casino Royale was one of my favorite movies ever. If Skyfall is able to top it, well...

So it'll have Q, Moneypenny, the James Bond theme, he'll say "Bond, James Bond", they'll refer to M as M instead of just "mom", he'll say "shaken, not stirred", it'll have the opening gun barrel, Craig will dye his hair, and we'll get something along the lines of a hybrid of From Russia With Love vs GoldenEye vs Casino Royale?

Doubt it lol.

I love both both his films equally.

CASINO ROYALE was brilliant and QUANTUM OF SOLACE was a damn fine follow up. Tonally, it was a stone cold revenge film and Bond was hurting, and that tonal shift is what I think threw people off.

The final scene of QoS, when he drops Vesper's Algerian Love Knot in the snow and DIDN'T kill Yusef? He FINALLY got his 'quantum of solace' and has moved on. He's now closer to the Bond we all love and know. Great movie. I'm dying for Skyfall.

Has anyone ever played Blood Stone 007 btw? For PS3 or Xbox 360?

He's going to have to beat Goldfinger. That's the quintessential Bond movie, so far.
