Since San Diego Comic-Con began on Thursday, Marvel Studios has revealed the costumes belonging to three Latverian Witches in Avengers: Doomsday. Clad in green, yellow, and purple, fans are speculating about what significance they might have in the movie.
Now, hours ahead of the studio's hour-long Hall H panel, Doctor Doom's costume is on display. There are lots of interesting little details here that we didn't catch sight of in the trailers, including a piece of fabric tied around his left arm.
Could that belong to the wife or child we've heard that he loses as a result of a Multiversal Incursion? It seems likely, especially as the MCU's Victor Von Doom is expected to have a new origin story (which makes him a more relatable figure, similar to Thanos).
The rondels on his chest appear to feature imagery tied to Thor and Captain Marvel, suggesting Doom has done something to his armour to ensure that he's prepared for two of Earth-616's strongest heroes. If so, that would explain him stopping a blow from Stormbreaker with two fingers.
There are also a lot of magic runes, which was perhaps to be expected when Victor is a villain who has mastered magic and science to become a truly formidable threat to those who challenge him. As for the mask, well, it's hard to find fault with it.
"In Avengers: Endgame, everyone was united against Thanos. In Avengers: Doomsday, the situation is even more precarious: three different universes, three different Earths, literally colliding with each other," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently teased. "The question then arises: will these heroes kill each other to protect their own worlds, or might they find a way to work together to save all three worlds? And how will Doctor Doom intervene?"
