Talk of a 24 movie has been going on since before the show was even cancelled. However, it finally seemed as if production would begin on a big screen version earlier this year. That was until Jack Bauer ended up coming face to face with an enemy worse than any terrorist: studio execs. Fox were said to be concerned with the budget, while Kiefer Sutherland was far from happy with the measly sum they were willing to pay him. Throw in the fact that he only had a limited time to shoot the film (due to working on new show, Touch) and fans of the series will now have to wait another year. Here's the latest update from an interview with the actor on The Late Show With David Letterman.

"It's something we've been working on from the last season of 24 right up until this point. It was very difficult for us to get a script in order. We had done 200 episodes of the show, and to try and create some kind of finale for us in a two-hour film was difficult, but we've finally gotten that in order and now we've just been juggling schedules.

There are actors that we want to use. There's a very small pool of director we're interested in working with and it's just kind of trying to get all that stuff to work out. I don't think we're going to be able to make it in the window I was hoping for. That is what we're going to do now in about eight months. I was hoping to be able to do it in about six weeks, which is not very reasonable at all."

I feel like that train left the station. There are fans that will see it but the majority of people have proably forgotten what the show was even about.

I'd rather see the Arrested Development movie happen first.

I never really watched this show but I still think a movie would be good.

My whole family and I used to watch 24. It was definitely a great show. I also played through most of the video game for Playstation 2, which was ok. I would be interested in seeing the movie, but getting used to seeing the types of stories 24 told get cut cut down to 1 and a half to 2 hours might take some getting used to.

24 has gone into the same realm as the X-Files...

... people don't give an F anymore about their movies, so stop making them.
