In late November mi6-hq.com reported that the production crew had been purchasing lots of VW Beetles. None of these vehicles are expected to make it through filming, and will most likely encounter a grim fate.

Now, we have our first glimpse, and confirmation that lots of VW Beetles will in fact play a role in Skyfall.

The VW Beetles pictured above at Royal Portbury Dock are heading to Turkey for the new James Bond movie Skyfall. The racks shrouded in blue on the Land Rovers are camera mounts.

The Beetles were spotted by Daily Press reader Gary Williams, from Weston-super-Mare. He said, "The Beetles are all attached by special hitches to the Land Rovers for filming purposes, I guess so that they can go where Beetles cannot normally go."- westonsupermarepeople.co.uk

Alright so that means these Beetles are in for a rough time in Turkey. So where in Turkey is this opening sequence taking place? As you can see in the pictures below, the opening scene will be filmed in several locations, such as: Istanbul’s Sultanahmet Square, Hagia Sophia, the coastal town of Fethiye and the Varda Railway Bridge close to Adana.

BEST JAMES BOND OPENING SCENE EVER!

Skyfall, Craig's third outing as James Bond will be released on October 26, 2012. Daniel Craig will be joined by Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, as well as a Judi Dench as M.

Huh? How can that be seen from the pictures?

Also I think you'll find those 'special hitches' are not so they can go where Beetles cannot normally go, but rather so they can be filmed to look as though the actors are actually driving when of course they are not.

Casino Royale is the best opening sequence I've seen, although I'll admit I haven't yet watched all the Bond films.
