UPDATE: THE EXPENDABLES 2 Could Be PG-13 Thanks To... Guess Who?

In an interview with the Polish paper Gazeta, action star Chuck Norris revealed that he wanted The Expendables 2 to be PG-13. More after the jump. Updated with Stallone confirming the rumor.

In a recent interview for Gazeta, Chuck Norris discussed a little bit about the new movie he will be in, The Expendables 2, revealing that some vulgar language in the screenplay didn't made him happy, and changes were made so the film could be PG-13.

“In ‘Expendables 2,’ there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay. For this reason, many young people wouldn’t be able to watch this. But I don’t play in movies like this,” Norris explained. “Due to that I said I won’t be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13.”

UPDATE: Sylvester Stallone contacted the people over at Ain't It Cool News cofirming that the movie will be PG-13:
"Harry, the film is fantastic with Van Damme turning in an inspired performance. Our final battle is one for the ages. The PG-13 rumor is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry...Sly."

So what that means to the new movie? Less badass moments and vulgar language between the characters, and probably less action packed scenes. But if it is Chuck Norris who requested this, then we must stay quiet and accept it!

The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) -- with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard -- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries.

But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time -- six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way...

The Expendables 2 is set to hit theatres on August 17!

They better not cut the violence. Thats the whole point of these films, to be incredibly violent and action packed. If its just language, sure I can live, but I hope they at least keep one "F-Bomb" In, to even it out.

That means the violence will be turned down greatly as well, to keep the pg-13 rating. It was the best part about the first film. And it WAS violent despite the clueless people who say it wasn't that violent. It was damn violent and bloody. Which I personally loved. Some movies are made to be rated R. This is one of them. More censorship for us. Yay.

Chuck Norris hasn't been relevant in over 20 years besides lame beard jokes. They should leave him out of it so they can at least make a decent movie.

Yay, because splattering someone's guts all over the wall with bullets is MUCH more moral than cursing at someone. Zeus forbid, the kids might get mentally hurt, because, you know, I actually considered taking my 6-year old to see a testosterone-laden movie whose SOLE purpose is to show outrageous violence.

Norris is a right wing nutjob with screwed up priorities. So, its OK for the movie to have a ton of violence but strong language is out?? And why would Stallone acquiesce to this tool? He hasn't been relevant since Walker Lame-ass Ranger.

[FRICK] THE CHUCK. i hate it when a star starts making stoopid demands like that. it's just so DIVA-ish of him to do so. and it shows how he should STAY RETIRED and off the big screen.

it ain't his movie, it's Sly's...OKAY. and it's just so good of Sly to let that, well, sly...

for me i think the movie needs to be violent, other than to keep it consistent with the firs one, but to keep these ol' action men CURRENT. they're mercenaries forcryinoutloud...a pg-13 flick bout mercenaries/cold-blooded killers for hire is just BEYOND ridiculous.

i welcome Sly hiring Chuck, but he should've let him dictated anything like that. the movie's better off withOUT THE Chuck.
