Even though this past year has been a little rough on DC's fans, the upcoming release of Batman: Year One should be enough to cheer everyone up. Inspired by Frank Miller's classic mini-series, Year One follows the early career of Batman, tracing Bruce Wayne's inspiration and inevitable rise as the caped crusader. With an all star cast, headlined by Bryan Cranston as Jim Gordon, Eliza Dushku as Catwoman, and Chris Mckenzie as Batman, expect this DVD to be a MUST BUY!!!.

In this short video, directors Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu discuss the process of adapting Frank Miller's seminal work for the film.

Can't wait to get this. I read Year One for the first time not too long ago. Then read it again. I love how close this looks to the comic.

I agree with jazzman, at least to an extent. I am sick of only seeing Batman or Superman. They need to expand. At least put in other characters we want to see as supporting cast. They can do Bats & Supes w/ other leaguers or sidekicks/partners. How about some Brave and the Bolds (if it weren't for that damn cartoon).

Well the last couple of times they've tried that approach it hasn't worked out too well and the weak sales kill the sequel (thank you I say angrily to everyone who didn't buy a copy of Wonder Woman)....

Can't wait to watch this!

@Jazzman: DC already did the Green Arrow short animated movie with Shazam, Jonah Hex and the Spectre. It's nice movie and GA looks so awesome on it.

@ElMurcielago I totally agree with you, Eliza is the perfect cast for Catwoman... Anne Hathaway is so sweet, I can't take away from my mind her image as a Disney princess... she needs to pull off a complete transformation.

In Nolan I trust, but she has to do an outstanding job.

Changing the subject, I totally love Lauren Montgomery, she is an awesome director. I am looking forward to watch Year One once the Blu Ray comes out.

@schneider625 well in Superman & Batman Apocalypse, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Big Barda and others were main characters. And Green Lantern has had at least 2 DC Animated movies.

Year One was the story that got me started reading Batman. Before that, I was all Marvel. I'm looking forward to seeing this excellent story brought to 'life'.

I'm with many of you that would love to see other DC heroes get a chance at starring in an animated feature. DC has enough great characters and enough great stories, let's see some variety.

I love these two and all they've put forth. However knowing the slate for the next few movies it IS very sad they're sticking to Batman and Superman stories even if they're picking really good ones. On the slate:
BAtman Year One
Justice League Doomed (based on the JLA Tower of Babel Arc)
Batman The Dark Knight Returns (in two parts)
Superman: The Elite (based on the arc introducing the antiheroes)
All great stories, but a Sinestro Corps follow-up to First Flight would rock. As would a Flash movie, or another WW flick.

It is not Chris Mckenzie, it is Ben Mckenzie voicing Batman, you know Ryan Atwood from The O.C.
