Progress on THE LEGO MOVIE Sequel Builds with Chris McKay Set to Direct

Last month, it was announced that Phil Lord & Christopher Miller's box office hit The Lego Movie was getting a sequel, and since then, we've gotten a release date for the film, as well as writers. And today, we got the announcement that Robot Chicken's Chris McKay signed on to direct.

The leaders of Warner Brothers animation have set Emmy winner Chris McKay (Robot Chicken) to direct the sequel to Phil Lord and Christopher Miller's original groundbreaking The LEGO Movie, which hit theaters last month and has agreed with critics and fans all over the world. McKay was animation co-director on the first film. Michelle Morgan (Girl Most Likely) as well as Jared Stern (Wreck-it Ralph) are in progress for writing a script for the next installment of the film series. And if you're worried about the original directing crew not returning for the sequel, the dynamic duo are set to return as executive producers.

Sigh - Phil Lord and Chris Miller must hate sequels cause they haven't signed on to one other than 22 Jump Street.

@MarvelSquadie

I highly doubt WB would allow Marvel characters to be in this movie.

As for this news I really am not a fan of Robot Chicken. But hopefully he can do a good job on this movie. I would like to see other characters that WB owns in the sequel. I really would like to see characters like Swamp Thing or Hawkman make an appearance in the next movie.
