Closer Look At AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Costume Display Spawns A Shocking, Potentially Spoilery Doctor Doom Theory

A display in the Russo Brothers' production company, AGBO, has sparked a new wave of speculation about Doctor Doom's potential link to Variants of two members of the Fantastic Four in Avengers: Doomsday.

Much has been said about Marvel Studios' plans for Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. We've heard that the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer star has written a backstory for the villain, and it's been widely reported that he'll be a sympathetic figure in the movie.

According to multiple scoopers, Doom lost his family when an Incursion destroyed his planet. The injuries from that incident left him encased in his armour, and Earth-616's Steve Rogers is believed to be responsible due to the damage he caused to the Multiverse by returning to the past for his happy ending with Peggy Carter.

We've also heard that Victor Von Doom might be concealing the truth about his past, so we'll see.

Now, fans are sharing their theories about the villain's lost wife and child after a new photo of a costume display in AGBO's headquarters has surfaced on social media.

As you can see, the costume that Downey wore at last year's San Diego Comic-Con has been placed alongside those for Sue Storm and Franklin Richards. It's a strange mix, and one that's left many convinced that, in Doom's world, Sue and Franklin were his wife and child.

This would explain The Fantastic Four: First Steps' post-credits scene, where Doom appeared to lift Franklin's hand to his face. Plus, the costume Downey donned at Comic-Con may actually be what he wore before his planet's destruction.

Throw in that leaked concept art of Sue and Franklin in Doom's court on Battleworld, and his having a past with their Variants means it makes far more sense for the villain to steal Mister Fantastic's family (the fact that his old rival has them on Earth 828 could be the basis for Doom's hatred of Reed Richards).

It's all just a theory for now, but we can hopefully expect the curtain to be pulled back on Doom in the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which is set to be released next month.

Avengers: Doomsday officially stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman all make their Avengers franchise debuts in the movie.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn join them, as do X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, with Deadpool & Wolverine star Channing Tatum.

Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, and Ryan Reynolds are also set to appear, according to reports from the trades. Many actors are similarly rumoured to show up, including Tobey Maguire, Hugh Jackman, Brie Larson, Elizabeth Olsen, and countless others.

The Russo Brothers direct the movie from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness's Michael Waldron is also working on the script.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

So Doom is doing what The Scarlet Witch did in a sense? Trying to take a variants lifestyle and family for their own to replace what they lost?

@SonOfAGif - that's kinda lame imo. Not only is that already a retread, but the whole "your actions killed my family" thing is already done with Zemo too

To be honest I think it’s superhero rumour fatigue that is setting in.

@Spike101 - it’s not helping. That these movies insist on being in the zeitgeist from the announcement of the idea through the streaming release, and all the way we are inundated with rumors and “possibility” articles and listicles. Only certain things will come to fruition but we’ve speculated on ALL of the things. No matter how hard we try, there will be disappointment.

@LenSpiderman - yes, I suspect you are correct. We are building ourselves up for inevitable disappointment as not all the fan theory can be correct.

It'd be funny if the Cap/Peggy incursion rumor has nothing to do with the movie at all. Doom's universe ending is one thing; but somehow making it all to do with Cap is little weak.
LenSpiderman
LenSpiderman - 11/19/2025, 7:05 AM
@IAmAHoot - maybe it will be a reverse endgame, and he will travel through the multiverse taking the fight to the people responsible for the major incursions. He’d have serious problems with Dr strange, kang, Captain America, Deadpool, and the F4 (didn’t they literally just dump galactus into a different universe like “he’s your problem now, sorry”).

Corruptor - 11/19/2025, 7:45 AM
@LenSpiderman - Wouldn't he end up being the one who caused most incursions of all, if he started doing that?
As for "it's about muh famly" that's a weak attempt to get women and girls into the cinema if they think it's about carey sharey types. Just let him be a badass villain to start with at least. The hidden depths can come after whatever the movie equivalent of 20 years of comic history equates too.. yeah, probably about 10 minutes, but still...

This could work for me as the contention between Victor and Reed, because it is a very convincing motivation for both and does not require them to have met before

@6of13 - she might not…

It might be a placeholder like Doom’s outfit.

If Sue is Victor's wife in an alternate reality, why would she still be wearing a FF costume?
6of13
6of13 - 11/19/2025, 7:26 AM
@6of13 - And that's assuming she was married to Reed first. If she were only ever married to Victor, why would she have a FF suit?

Interesting, It’s certainly possible that Sue & Franklin were Victors family in his reality or perhaps happen to be doppelgängers for Valeria and their son (the former being Doom’s first love in the comics).

Anyway in regards to the outfit , hopefully he didn’t wear the mask back then with that and only did so after…

Otherwise I like it as perhaps royal garb that Victor would wear before getting scarred/injured though it could just be a placeholder for the real outfit that they’ll put there later on but don’t want to reveal yet.

@TheVisionary25 - I'm guessing it's just a placeholder outfit made for comic con. I really doubt that'll be the main Doom look, although it could be his diplomacy garb
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 11/19/2025, 7:31 AM
@bkmeijer1 - good point

Yeah , I don’t think it’s his main one but as you said just diplomacy garb perhaps

WruceBayne - 11/19/2025, 7:29 AM
Well maybe, that post credit scene from F4 was Doom’s actual family and not the Sue and Franklin we seen throughout the movie. That post credit scene is probably the start of the incursion where they die… allegedly
TheVisionary25
TheVisionary25 - 11/19/2025, 7:32 AM
@WruceBayne - then why would Victor be interacting with Franklin the way he is in that scene if it was his family?.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 11/19/2025, 7:33 AM
@WruceBayne - that would be wild, but I doubt that's gonna be the case. I think it's just Doom coming for Franklin to use the power cosmic to create Battleworld (Doom's way of saving the multiverse)
WruceBayne
WruceBayne - 11/19/2025, 7:40 AM
@TheVisionary25 - Doom was just kneeling when Franklin was touching his face. Franklin didn’t seem afraid of the “stranger” in his house because maybe he knew Doom as his father in that reality.

What if this is post-Doomsday and Victor took Sue as a victory trophy? Sounds like a Doom thing to do. Especially if he's from Earth 828 too and he's jealous of what Reed has.

So, no Valeria Doom/Richards on the MCU?

hmm. That could be interesting... might need more though for a Doom- Reed hatred other than this guy in this world has my family that was mine in my world! Gahh!
Hope they get this right.....

"Sue is 100% Doom's wife in his universe and Franklin was his son."

This is not how genes work, even in a "multiverse".
