Avengers: Secret Wars Rumored To Feature [Spoiler]'s Return For One Final Send-Off

New details on how work on Avengers: Doomsday is progressing have been revealed, along with a huge rumour about plans for an exciting send-off in next December's Avengers: Secret Wars.

The end of the Multiverse Saga is approaching, with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars shaping up to be an epic finale. The hope is that Marvel Studios will end this tumultuous era on a high, meaning the pressure is on the Russo Brothers to deliver.

With less than two months to go until Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters, insider Daniel Richtman has shared a couple of updates on where things stand with the movie.

Marvel Studios and the Russos are still editing the upcoming blockbuster, meaning it isn't picture-locked quite yet. This comes after we recently heard positive things from an Avengers: Doomsday test screening.

As the marketing campaign ramps up, it's also said that we should expect the final trailer to be released next month. We'd also bet on an Empire Magazine cover story, Entertainment Weekly coverage, and some long-overdue character posters.

Richtman later shared some big news on Avengers: Secret Wars, revealing that the original X-Men will return in the movie. This is something of a surprise, as the expectation was that we'd bid a permanent farewell to them in Doomsday. Perhaps the 2027 Multiverse Saga finale will add those missing from the current roster, such as Halle Berry's Storm and Famke Janssen's Jean Grey?

Either way, this comes after reports that the Multiverse Saga finale will feature appearances from Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier and Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto.

During a recent interview, X-Men reboot star Christopher Abbott—he plays Professor X in the movie—confirmed that there are no plans for him to appear in the next Avengers movies.

"I don't think so. Well, I don't even know–what's happening? What do you mean? I don't know what's going on. On no. I'm not in that," he shared. "I gotta do the 'X-Men' movie first before any of that stuff."

You can hear more from the actor in the player below.

The confirmed (or semi-confirmed, at least) cast of Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).

Also appearing are Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), Sadie Sink (Jean Grey), and Noah Jupe.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

The original X-Men being in Secret Wars isn’t surprising because I’m sure Marvel Studios will try to get every actor/character who has been in a Marvel film pre-MCU in SW so why not also bring in the former aswell given some of them are already in Doomsday?.

I mean it would be odd to not include them given they really made CBM’s more popular then they were at the time that iteration of the franchise started and helped pave the way for Raimi’s Spider Man & such (I know Blade came before them but still).

Also in regards to the edit , The Russo’s said they wouldn’t be done with the film until sometime in November so them still working on it makes sense!!.

@tRuckRogers46A - Nah, he said he was going to be taking less roles since it's harder for someone his age to get roles. But he said he would always be an actor all the way until he died. So if there were roles that he liked and he was offered them he would continue to act.

@dragon316 - Stewart shared:

As any actor my age will tell you, there are fewer and fewer available roles as we get older. That being said, I still continue to receive interesting offers, and I love being challenged by new work.

@tRuckRogers46A - He said he's basically never gonna retire. It will probably actually be his final time playing professor x though.

Honestly I expect them, both spider men and the Tim story fantastic four as basically guarantees. Although I would also personally hope for Eric Bana hulk and Ben Affleck daredevil especially with how open Affleck seems to be with it. Would also love nic Cage as ghost rider one more time but I doubt he would say yes given his comments
