We will next see Tom Hardy in John Hillcoat's Lawless - alongside the likes of Guy Pearce, Shia LaBeouf and his TDKR co-star Gary Oldman - and the British actor is currently at Cannes promoting the movie, sporting a very impressive beard for his role in the next Mad Max film (Hardy can't give any definite updates on that one). Vulture caught up with Hardy in a candid interview in which he discusses everything from his drinking days, to his facial fuzz, to being compared to Marlon Brando, and of course his highly anticipated turn as Bane in Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie. When asked how he feels about being under a mask in what will be his biggest role to date, Hardy says he hasn't given much thought to it..

To me, it’s about the characters, it’s about the film, it’s about the process of making stunning visuals and a huge, epic movie. It doesn’t matter if my head was covered in a black plastic bag and I was bouncing around in a space hopper: That's the villain of Chris Nolan's Batman!

He goes on to say that no matter what the future holds he will continue to behave as always has "because I’m not famous in my head". And should the day come when he needs to star popping down the corner shop in a disguise, Vulture suggests he can always grow that beard back again - And I [frick]ing will as well!
