After the runaway success of "The Jungle Book" at the box office, Disney have planted their flag for a number of dates in the coming years for live-action and fairy-tale films outside of their Marvel and Star Wars tent poles.

Favreau will be back in the director’s chair for the sequel with scripting duties again being undertaken by Justin Marks.

Amongst the announced projects, the “101 Dalmatians“ spinoff “Cruella” spinoff starring Emma Stone was confirmed, and Angelina Jolie will be back for a “Maleficent” sequel.

Other projects that have been confirmed as in development include “Jungle Cruise” with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson (based on the Disneyland ride), a Tim Burton helmed take on “Dumbo”, Reese Witherspoon in a film based on Tinkerbell, a “Mary Poppins” sequel starring Emily Blunt and an adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s “A Wrinkle in Time”.

Which films will land on which dates is yet to be specified, but you can get the full live-action Disney release date schedule below:

UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE 7/28/17
UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE 4/6/18
UNTITLED DISNEY LIVE ACTION 8/3/18
UNTITLED DISNEY LIVE ACTION 12/25/18
UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE 12/20/19

It looks as though the success of “The Jungle Book” may have given Disney the confidence they needed to go ahead with live-action versions of some of their most treasured animated fairy tale properties; will it be long before we start to hear rumours of “Lion King” or “Alladin” making it back to the big screen?
