Disney pulled out all the stops at D23 on Saturday night, with a first official look at the live-action Tangled movie among the biggest highlights. Now confirmed for a March 31, 2028 release, a brief teaser was shown featuring Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and an exciting glimpse of Kathryn Hahn's villainous Mother Gothel.

Set photos and videos have been plentiful in recent weeks, but this sneak peek received an enthusiastic reaction in Anaheim. Hahn's debut as the movie's villain received some of the loudest cheers of the night, as the Agatha All Along star has long been a fan-favourite choice for the role.

The footage has been shared widely on social media (via Toonado.com), but has yet to receive an official release. Given that the movie is still the best part of two years away, chances are it will be a while before we get a teaser trailer.

In Tangled, when the kingdom's most-wanted bandit, Flynn Rider, hides in a convenient tower, he immediately becomes a captive of Rapunzel, the spire's longtime resident. Crowned with 70 feet of magical golden hair, she has been locked away for years and desperately wants freedom. The feisty teenager strikes a deal with Flynn, and together, they begin a whirlwind adventure.

Tangled will be directed by The Greatest Showman and Better Man's Michael Gracey. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder) wrote the script, while Kristin Burr (Cruella) recently came on board as a producer.

Teagan Croft (Titans) and Milo Manheim (Zombies) will lead the live-action remake as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Joining them is Kathryn Hahn (Agatha All Along) as Mother Gothel. Diego Luna (Andor) has joined the cast in a mystery role.

This wasn't the only major reveal from Walt Disney Studios. The studio also confirmed that Lilo & Stitch 2 is heading to theaters on May 28, 2028.

In a brief teaser shown to attendees, it was revealed that Experiment 626 will be joined by Angel, a.k.a. Experiment 624. Another illegal genetic experiment created by Jumba Jookiba, Stitch's love interest (or "boojiboo", as they call each other), Angel is designed to turn individuals and experiments from good to evil by singing a siren song containing a special musical neuro-linguistic behavioural modification trigger.
