John Carter of Mars Fancast

John Carter of Mars Fancast

I am a fan of the John Carter of Mars books. I also love the comics (DC's version). But, the movie in 2012, John Carter, turned out to be a total flop. I think it should be remade and this time, made true to the book. This is my very first fancast, so it might not be that great, but these are my choices for who would play the John Carter characters in the first movie.

My choice to play John Carter is Scott Adkins

Movies he has been in:  The Legend of Hercules (2014), The Expendables 2 (2012), Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012)

Why he could play John Carter:  He has the look and build for John Carter, plus, he is great at doing action movies.  I think he'd be great for the role.  He is a British martial artist who knows Wushu, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and Taekwondo.

My choice to play Dejah Thoris, the princess of Mars, is Arlene Tur

Arlene Tur played Vera Juarez in Torchwood: Miracle Day and has been in some other stuff.  I think she looks like she could pull off the role and she reminds me somewhat of Lynn Collins.

My choice to play Sola is Karen Gillan

I can picture Karen Gillan, who played Amy Pond on Doctor Who and will play Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy, voicing a CGI Sola.

My choice to play Tars Tarkas is Kevin Michael Richardson

He voiced Jabba the Hut in Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) and has voiced Kilowog in the video game, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters, and has also voiced Shredder in the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon.  He can do all kinds of voices, and I could picture him voicing a CGI Tars Tarkas.  He is perfect for the role.

My choice to play Tardos Mors (grandfather of Dejah Thoris) is Ian McKellen

He has played Gandalf in Lord of the Rings and Magneto in the X-Men movies.  I can picture him playing Tardos Mors because he can pull off the wise, old character well.  Tardos Mors is the jeddak (king) of Helium, the kingdom of the red Martians and home to Dejah Thoris.

My choice to play Mors Kajak (father of Dejah Thoris) is Hugo Weaving

Because, Hugo Weaving played Elrond in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Mors Kajak reminds me of Elrond.  Mors has a serious personality and I can totally imagine Weaving playing him.  All Hugo Weaving has to do is put on an eyepatch (which Mors Kajak has in some of the comics), and grow long hair.  Then he can pull off the role well.

My choice to play Sab Than is Tom Hiddleston

Sab Than is the prince of the kingdom of Zodanga, who forces Dejah Thoris to marry him, and is the antagonist in the first book.  I can picture Tom Hiddleston playing him, because Sab Than is a jealous and ambitious character like Loki is.

My choice to play Than Kosis, the father of Sab Than, is Russel Crowe

Russel Crowe has been in movies like Gladiator, Man of Steel (as Jor-El), and will be in the movie Noah, as well.  He is good at king or leader like roles.

My choice to play Kantos Kan is Dwayne Johnson

Kantos Kan was a Red Martian that John Carter had to fight in a gladiator tournament held by the cruel Warhoons.  Kantos Kan and Carter were friends though, so Kantos faked his own death.  They later escaped together.
I can picture Dwayne Johnson playing an honorable hero type role like Kantos Kan.

My choice to play Tal Hajus is Andy Serkis

Tal Hajus is the corrupt and greedy jeddak of Thark, the kingdom of the Green Martians, where Tars Tarkas is from.  He is one of the main villains of the first book.  Andy Serkis, who voices Gollum in The Hobbit movies and Lord of the Ring trilogy, could pull off his role.  I think he is good at doing voices for evil characters.
