THE FANTASTIC FOUR's Ralph Ineson Hits Back At Rob Liefeld After Disparaging Remarks About MCU Reboot

Ralph Ineson, who played Galactus in Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has fired back at Rob Liefeld after the Deadpool co-creator shared some not-so flattering remarks on social media...

Back in February, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld announced that he had severed ties with Marvel. The divisive writer/artist outlined a number of his grievances with the company, which seemed to stem from not being invited to the Deadpool and Wolverine premiere's after party. Liefeld also took issue with not being given a "created by" credit during the movie's opening credits sequence.

Some believe he had every reason to feel slighted, others that he overreacted. Wherever you happen to stand, Liefeld hasn't exactly done himself any favors by consistently sharing anti-Marvel posts to social media, and even some of his fans feel that he has just become petty and childish about the whole thing at this stage.

Liefeld has taken a few jabs at Marvel Studios' most recent movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, but his latest X post was met with a response from one of the reboot's cast members.

After calling out a scene featuring Galactus for its "fake" looking VFX, actor Ralph Ineson responded with the following.

To be fair, Ineson could have really let him have it here, and at this point it's hard to argue with the notion that Marvel is living rent free in Liefeld's head.

Despite the perception that the latest big-screen outing for Marvel's First Family underperformed (it's probably safe to assume it didn't do as well as the studio hoped it would), the movie did manage to pass the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office. Not an outstanding showing, but far from a disaster in the current climate.

Will we get a sequel? The team is set to return for Avengers: Doomsday, and rumor has it that director Matt Shakman has had discussions about taking the helm of another movie. Apparently, the studio is confident that general audiences will respond more positively to the characters after becoming more familiar with them in the next MCU event film.

First Steps also stars Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning) as Sue Storm, aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, A Quiet Place Day One) as Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch, Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher, The Bear) as Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, and Julia Garner (Wolf Man, Ozark) as the Silver Surfer.

"Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet.

Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal."

Lol , even he knows…

Anyway , I thought Galactus looked quite good and felt Mr Ineson did well in the role even though he didn’t have much screen time overall.

Sure , Marvel’s VFX at times recently hasn’t been stellar but this is nowhere near an example if that imo so it’s just Liefeld being petty as usual!!.

The only problem i had with F/X was Reed streching powers. Beside one great scene involving Galactus stretching the hell out of Reed the F/x involving stretching were just not good.

@jerryblake - I also thought the shirts they had on the Thing were terrible. He himself was amazing. And it's fine when he's wearing sweaters, but the button-down shirts look terrible and really take me out of it. Other than that and the stretching, I thought the effects were top-notch.

@jerryblake - as oppose to all the other FF movies where his stretching powers looked ridiculous? I'll take this over all the others so far because they were smart enough to not even focus on his powers. It's a ridiculous power to translate into live action without it being a comedy.

The movie was pretty good, but I had hoped for and expected much better.

@MisterBones - I have a lot more respect for Liefeld after watching matttt's video on him. I think a lot of us if we got THAT successful THAT young would make a lot of mistakes too. But yeah, once he veered away from his main occupation of drawing, everything went downhill.

Rob's right. The Galactus costume was amazing, only for them to replace it with shitty CGI just like Spider-Man. They couldn't even keep his mouth real.

I think FF has some of the best VFX we've seen in a few years. As for Galactus in particular, we know that the majority of Galactus was actually practical. I'm sure that's not what Leifeld was referring to (rather, he was probably talking about something else in that scene with Galactus). In any case, I think talking about VFX looking fake in movies like Fantastic Four, Multiverse of Madness, and Quantumania is like saying Barney doesn't look like a real dinosaur. Well, duh. If you can't use your imagination, there's nothing any VFX can do that is going to make you believe any of that is real. It's a complete fantasy, and that's the point.

Ineson's Galactus was the best thing about the movie despite just making him a standard kaiju.

There was no reason for Galactus to look that bad in 2025.

Not sure its rent free, considering all of the millions of dollars Marvel has paid to Liefeld.

I'll be honest, I have my own issues with first steps, but for the most part the VFX aren't part of them.

Did The Thing hate saying "It's clobbering time" in the comics?
