As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, HBO has announced that Jasper Talbot, Hannah Chinn, and Harry Gilby have joined the Harry Potter cast as James Potter, Lily Potter, and Charlie Weasley, respectively.

James and Lily will appear via flashbacks, photographs, and magical manifestations, including the Mirror of Erised in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Charlie didn't appear in the films, and doesn't physically appear in the books until Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

All three characters are confirmed for Season 1, meaning we'll likely see Charlie when Hagrid sends him Norbert, the baby Norwegian Ridgeback dragon he receives from a mysterious stranger in The Hog's Head. He was referenced in The Philosopher's Stone, but didn't physically appear.

Talbot is best known for his stage work, including Michael Grandage's The Line of Beauty. His only screen credit is Broadchurch Season 3. As for Chinn, she's best known for roles in The Conjuring: Last Rites, Malpractice, and The Trap. As for Gilby, you may have caught his work in Tolkien and The Last Kingdom.

Recent additions to Season 2, an adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, include Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby, Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle, Rafe Spall as Arthur Weasley, Molly Hewitt-Richards as Moaning Myrtle, and Jasper Ambrose as Colin Creevey.

There is nothing special about Harry Potter - or so his Aunt Petunia tells him. But when a mysterious letter of admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry arrives, it opens the door to a hidden world of magic, friendship and adventure. Yet behind Hogwarts’ enchanted walls lie dark secrets. Harry must find the courage to prove himself against the darkest wizard of all.

The main cast of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.

Rounding out the supporting cast are Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Leigh Gill as Griphook, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

The series, based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved books, is written and executive-produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mark Mylod will executive-produce and direct multiple episodes of the series for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. The series is executive-produced by J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone premieres on HBO Max this Christmas.

Waiting til Christmas to see if this has any chance of being good, but so far the cast is mostly promising.

Technically, Charlie has a brief cameo in Prisoner of Azkaban.

Even as someone who has read the books , I’m so used to seeing so many of the “adult” characters be played by older actors in the movies that them casting more accurate to the books age wise in the show makes me realize how young James & Lily were when they died.

Anyway , not familiar with all 3 young actors but they certainly look their parts so excited to check them out in the show!!.
