G.I. JOE 3 Gets A Writer; Movie Will Focus On Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's 'Roadblock'
The third instalment in the G.I. Joe franchise has finally landed a writer, while the focus of the movie is now said to be squarely on Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Roadblock. You can find more details on that and which action movie vet will pen the screenplay after the jump!
According to Variety, Paramount and Skydance have chosen Jonathan Lemkin to write G.I. Joe 3 for a 2016 release. He's already written The Longest Night (which Frank Marshall is set to direct) for the studio, and past credits include Shooter, Devil's Advocate and Lethal Weapon 4. Jon Chu was at one point attached to return to direct G.I. Joe 3, but that isn't happening as of right now. The site goes on to reveal that Dwayne Johnson and Adrianne Palicki are expected to return with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and David Ellison producing. The focus will be on The Rock this time though, with Roadblock taking on an even larger role in proceedings. Production will likely begin in the second quarter of 2015, and after G.I. Joe: Retaliation took $370 million at the worldwide box office, they're obviously keen on establishing this as a new franchise. What do you guys think?
