BOX OFFICE: James Gunn's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Passes $300M Worldwide

Those of you feeling sore about the fact that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat Guardians of the Galaxy to the top spot this weekend at the North American box office should now be able to sleep a little easier, eh? In all seriousness though, the fact that the movie didn't stay on top is largely irrelevent, especially as it clearly has some serious staying power. It's still too early to say what James Gunn's first big budget blockbuster will ultimately end up finishing with worldwide, and it could be some time before we find out due to the fact that it doesn't hit China - a country which could add a huge amount to its final box office haul - until October. The fact is though, there's no way Marvel are regretting their decision to announce a sequel for a 2017 release before this one even hit theaters as some sceptical fans didn't think Guardians of the Galaxy would reach as much as $300 million after its entire run, never mind in just 10 days! What do you think?
