MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Trailer: He-Man Vs. Skeletor, Teela Vs. Evil-Lyn In 4K Screenshots

Amazon MGM Studios released the first trailer for Travis Knight's live-action Masters of the Universe reboot earlier today, and thanks to the ever reliable @Cryptic4KQual, we now get to have a closer look at the major reveals via a series of high-quality screenshots.

Though this is being promoted as a teaser, it runs for over 2 minutes, and packs quite a lot in.

The footage begins with Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) living on Earth in the guise of Adam Glenn (he/him). After being made aware of his true alien origins, Adam tracks down the iconic Sword of Power, and we see him make his way to Eternia alongside Teela (Camila Mendes), Duncan, aka Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), Roboto (Kristin Wiig), and Cringer, the cowardly feline who transforms into Battle Cat.

From here, we catch quick glimpses of some locations and characters that should be very familiar to fans of the classic '80s animated series, including Castle Grayskull, The Sorceress in falcon form, monstrous villains Goat Man, Spikor and Beast Man, Fisto in action, and Alison Brie as Skeletor's second-in-command, Evil-Lyn, as she does battle with Teela.

Finally, we see Adam use the sword to become He-Man, as he goes one-on-one with Skeletor (Jared Leto).

Check out the images at the links below, and have another look at the trailer.

After numerous false starts, Netflix was all set to develop a feature take on the beloved animated series back in 2022, but we got word earlier this year that the latest attempt to get the project off the ground had also fallen by the wayside.

However, we'd later learn that Amazon/MGM Studios had acquired the movie, with Bumblebee director Travis Knight in talks to helm. Chris Butler rewrote the script from an initial draft by David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Previously, the Nee Brothers (The Lost City) were attached to direct.

Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will produce, along with DeVon Franklin.

The story follows “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”

Masters of the Universe is set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.

I know a certain amount of people might have issues with atleast some of the VFX for this film as of now since it may not look exactly “real” but I feel like Gunn’s Superman , that is the point in that ts trying to recapture that comic booky/cartoon aesthetic which works for me in both cases.

Also while I wish there was another actor in the role , I do hope Leto does well as Skeletor and moreso leans into the unhinged over the top theatricality of the character then give a subdued performance that’s trying to be menacing and taken seriously.

Anyway , the movie looks really fun so excited to check it out in June!!.

@TheVisionary25 - VFX is OK, Roboto looks awful as does Spikor and i have 0 clue who the devil guy is. Skeletor looks really cool, beast man look amazing and from behind Trap Jaw looks OK - hopefully his face looks good too. Honestly had no clue alison brie was in this.

I cant believe Fisto is in this and possibly ram man, the group walk out there is a guy with a skirt looking garb - maybe ram man. I hope Orko is in it somewhere i didnt see him at all. Looks like it could be fun, will def check this out with my son who also like MOTU

@Gizmoduck - I thought Roboto looked cool as did Spikor

I have a feeling Orko might not be in this one but I didn’t know Beast Man was in it so perhaps there’s a chance.

@TheVisionary25 - Just noticed Mekaneck in the wide shot too, for a split second you can see a guy on the left with upside down triangle glasses. Im getting more hyped for this.

Who is playing King Randor in this? Didn't catch him in the trailer.

@Bucky74 - James Purefoy. He’s been in a lot of lesser known films and shows.

@MrRossBot - Thanks, he's a solid actor. Dolph Lundgren would have been a fun throwback, lol

@Bucky74 - Lundgren's got a cameo apparently. Maybe as Lord Grayskull?

Purefoy played Solomon Kane once, a character created by Robert E. Howard and part of the Conanverse. So there's a vague connection since He-Man was born from a rejected Conan toyline pitch.

@ObserverIO - I saw that. It was a good low-budget take on the character. Not great but better than you'd expect. Very cool.

@ObserverIO - I hope he does.

Because no matter what you think that movie was fun, well for us old boys back then.

Can't knock it.

And Dolph deserves his props

@ObserverIO - I thought one of the statues in the trailer kinda looked like Dolph, but could been wishfull thinking. And maybe it is because Mighty Dolph looks like statue.

@Floke - If they do I wonder if he'll be cast as He-Man's predecesor. It would be a nice meta nod.

@TheRevelation - A flashback of Dolph as King Grayskull vs Hordac would be freaking amazing. Maybe they can get Frank Langella to voice Hordac.

This looks like it MIGHT be good, but it will all depend on the tone. Obviously it shouldn't take itself too seriously, but it shouldn't go too far in the other direction either.

Skeletor looks perfect. This reminds me of when they got Cobra Commander right in that second GIJOE movie. We have this and Voltron coming. 1980 babies, this is our year!

They should have done the skinny actor body thing for Adam to show an actual physical transformation into He-man.
