A QUIET PLACE PART II Moves To September As Major Studios Continue To Clear Out Of Spring

With Spring looking less and less salvageable in terms of a return to theater-going, nearly every major studio has pushed back their biggest releases to this Fall, and now Paramount has joined the fray.

As confidence in a safe return to cinemas this Spring diminishes, Paramount Pictures has become the latest studio to delay the release one of their biggest blockbusters, as it's officially moved John Krasinski's A Quiet Place Part II from April to September 17.

Paramount is the latest studio over the course of the past twenty-four hours to vacate the Spring, following MGM/EON (No Time to Die), Universal Pictures (The Addams Family 2NobodyLast Night in Soho), Sony Pictures (Morbius; UnchartedGhostbusters: AfterlifePeter Rabbit 2: The GetawayCinderella), and earlier today, Walt Disney Studios/20th Century Studios (The King's ManBob's Burgers; Ron's Gone Wrong).

While the Spring is likely a lost cause, it does seem as though studios have some optimism for a relatively normal summer blockbuster season as the vast majority of releases from May to July have stayed put... at least, for now.

With this latest shift, Warner Bros. is now poised to dominate the Spring box office; however, considering their day-and-date release plan with films debuting both theatrically and on HBO Max, it's uncertain how much they really stand to gain - especially after their Christmas launch title, Wonder Woman 1984, failed to take off at the global box office, and instead became one of the most pirated films of all-time.

Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe will headline the feature, reprising their roles from the previous installment, while Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) and Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) join the cast in mysterious new roles. John Krasinski will also appear in the film as the Abbott patriarch, albeit only in a cameo capacity during flashbacks.

Following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.

A Quiet Place Part II sneaks into theaters September 17
