Evil Dead fans have been desperate for a first look at some footage from the upcoming requel, Evil Dead Rise, and while there's still no sign of a teaser trailer, Bruce Campbell has now shared a new official still.

Campbell's character, Ash Williams, won't actually appear (as far as we know, anyway), but the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actor is on board as an executive producer along with Sam Raimi.

The image introduces a new group of characters that will be forced to contend with an army of dreaded Deadites. Something tells us quite a few (most?) of these guys will come to messy ends before the credits roll!

Evil Dead Rise is set to hit theaters on April 21, 2023. The horror flick will ditch the usual forest setting and move the gory action to the city, as "two estranged sisters’ reunion is cut short when flesh-possessing demons thrust them into a battle for survival."

Alyssa Sutherland (The Mist, Vikings) and Lily Sullivan (Picnic at Hanging Rock, Jungle) will play the lead roles.

Sam Raimi's microbudget original is still considered one of the best horror movies of all time, with direct sequels Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness as well as recent TV show Ash vs. The Evil Dead upping the comedic elements. The well-received 2013 remake was a far more serious affair, but we're still not sure what to expect from Rise from a tonal standpoint.
