Amazon Studios is developing a new YA horror series based on hit '90s slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the principal cast (via Deadline) has now been announced.
Madison Iseman (Jumanji: The Next Level) will play the lead, and she'll be joined by Brianne Tju (Light as a Feather), Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping), Sebastian Amoruso (Solve), Fiona Rene (Stumptown), Cassie Beck (Connecting), Brooke Bloom (Homecoming) and Bill Heck (I’m Your Woman).
No character details have been revealed, but Iseman is expected to take on a similar role to Jennifer Love Hewitt's Julie in the movies.
The project hails from Sony Pictures Television and Original Film, and has Preacher scribe Sara Goodman on board as writer.
The 1997 original was based on the novel of the same name by Lois Duncan, and starred Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. as a group of teens who find themselves stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night. The show is expected to follow the same premise.
Although it spawned two inferior sequels, the first I Know What You Did Last Summer movie was a big hit despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, and is generally credited with revitalizing the slasher genre along with Scream.
Fans should probably expect the gore to be toned down considerably if this show is going to be geared more towards younger teens, however.
