Remake Of George Romero's DAY OF THE DEAD In The Works

Deadline report that Mark Tonderai will direct, and co-write with Lars Jacobsen, a "modern-day retelling" George Romero's Day Of The Dead for Millennium Films. This is actually the second time the'll use the title of Romero's 1985 zombie flick, as a loose remake with Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon also came out in 2008. This time they're said to be targeting a 2014 release. The original was the third in Romero's "Dead" saga, and was notable for having an undead character ("Bub") as a protagonist -- it'll be interesting to see if this new take follows suit. Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman will produce, with Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson and Terry Dougas on board as executive producers.
