Deadline reveals that Eli Roth (Hostel) is in talks to direct Harker for Warner Bros. However, Russell Crowe (Robin Hood) is already attached to play Count Dracula himself in the re-imagining of the classic Bram Stoker tale. The film is still in the very early stages of development, although the studio are hoping that it will be the beginning of a new franchise (Crowe is only signed up for the first film) which will see Jonathan Harker, a Scotland Yard detective, hunt down the classic vampire and more besides. The film is now being put on the fast-track, with production expect to begin next year. The spec script was written by by Lee Shipman & Brian McGreevy, while the hunt for a leading man to play the title role has not yet begun according to sources close to production. "Once they figure out the story then they’ll figure out who’s right to play him." The vampire has actually starred in many Marvel comic books, although this film will obviously have no connection to them.
