Sad news for Star Wars fans today as it has been reported that Erik Bauersfeld, the actor who voiced everyone's favourite Mon Calamari Admiral Ackbar has passed away at age 93.
Bauersfeld's voice credits also include 2001's AI: Artificial Intelligence and Crimson Peak in 2015, but he will be most remembered for one of Star Wars most popular and memorable lines, "it's a trap!", from Return of the Jedi. As Admiral Ackbar, Bauersfeld appeared on two Star Wars video games. He also voiced Jabba The Hutt's chief of staff, Bib Fortuna.
Both Bauersfeld and original trilogy puppeteer TImothy M. Rose were invited to return to the Star Wars universe in last years The Force Awakens to once more bring life to Admiral Ackbar in a cameo appearance.
