STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Approaches #11 Spot On All-Time Highest Grossing List, But Flops In China

Alhough Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now closing in on Furious 8's spot on the all-time highest grossing movies list, the Rian Johnson-helmed space adventure has failed to make any kind of impact in China.

The Friday box office updates for Star Wars: The Last Jedi are in, and it looks like the latest journey to the galaxy far, far away is poised to become one of the 10 highest-grossing movie of all time.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI SPOILERS - Counting Down All Of The Biggest Reveals And Most Shocking Moments

As it stands, Rian Johnson's film will pass Furious 8 ($1,236.0M) today to nab the #11 spot - however, if it does manage to crack the top 10, it won't be thanks to China's box office takings.

After experiencing one of the biggest Friday-to-Friday box office plunges on record, Forbes reports that the picture has been pulled from 92% of screenings in The Middle Kingdom after just one week on release. Star Wars movies have never fared particularly well in China, but that seems to be unprecedented.

What do you guys make of this? Do you plan on seeing The Last Jedi again in theaters? Sound off below.

And the nutcases (not people who dislike the movie for legitimate reasons of their own, that’s just their opinion; I’m talking people so emotionally [frick]ing retarded in hate for this movie that they hallucinate and make up shit to try and bring the movie down) will still claim that this movie is flopping in general, not just in a country that has never accepted or liked the franchise.

@MUTO123 -

I agree, there are a lot of nutcases (Not people who like the movie for legitimate reasons of their own); I’m talking people so emotionally [frick]ing retarded in denial for this movie that they hallucinate and make up shit to try and pretend the movie is good) will still claim that this movie is successful in general, ignoring how this country responded to TFA and the negative effect on the franchise as a whole.

:P

Seriously, what a silly comment to make. You are just trying to deflect legitimate concerns by ignoring the fact that China was the second highest foreign market for TFA (Behind the UK) earning over $100m alone for the movie.

You remark about some trolls existing who deny the movies own remarks are more representative of the unexplained appreciation the movie is getting by people who walked out thinking they were meant to 'let the past die' rather than the valid criticisms at the idiotic plot, terrible character development, forced political messages done poorly and lack of interesting set-up or reason to return to the franchise.
