Has Scream 8 Found Its Directors? The Soska Sisters Respond To Online Rumor

Though there's a chance they're just attempting to drum up interest here, The Soska Sisters seem to have indicated that they are set to direct Scream 8...

Following the record-breaking box office success of Scream 7, it was only a matter of time before we got word on the next instalment of the long-running slasher franchise, and back in April, the trades confirmed that Scream 8 is officially moving forward with a new writing team attached.

As previously reported, Spyglass and Paramount Pictures have enlisted Lilla and Nora Zuckerman to pen the project, and we may now have word on the directing duo that could be stepping behind the camera.

Following Daniel Richtman's claim that the studio is "close to signing a director for Scream 8," Jen and Sylvia Soska, better known as the Soska Sisters, shared the following post on X.

The Soska Sisters are Canadian twins who generally collaborate as film directors, producers and screenwriters. They are known for their brutally violent lower-budget horror movies such as Dead Hooker in a Trunk, See No Evil 2 and American Mary.

We're not sure if the "Twisted Twins" are actually in line to helm the movie or are simply having some fun with their followers here, but we should find out soon enough.

Despite a mixed reception from critics, Scream 7 went on to become the highest-grossing film in the franchise, earning more than $200 million worldwide.

Neve Campbell returned as OG final girl Sidney Prescott for Scream 7 after skipping the previous instalment due to a pay dispute. We assume she'll be back for this next movie, but there's no mention of her involvement in the trade reports.

Kevin Williamson directed Scream 7 and also penned the script with Guy Busick, but he has already made it clear that he has no interest in returning to helm the next film.

In addition to Campbell, David Arquette returns as former police officer Dewey Riley, along with Scott Foley as Scream 3's Ghostface, Roman Bridger. Courteney Cox also reprises her role as Gale Weathers, along with Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin and Jasmine Savoy Brown as his sister, Mindy. New cast members include Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace and Sam Rechner.

“Sidney Prescott is coming back!” Campbell posted on Instagram when her return was made official. “It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realised as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

Funny, you mentioned this, because I decided to go through the series, started yesterday. And all I could think is, man, this shit is just begging for a parody! And I almost lose focus and jump over to said parody, but I’m gonna stick with this. I haven’t watched any scream movies in a very long time. Almost feels new again.

@TheWalkingCuban - And it is, of course, its own level of parody against the tropes of horror. Snake eats snake.

The Soska Sisters could absolutely nail it, they haven't been relevant since See No Evil 2 with Kane from WWE

Dunno if they’re involved or if this is playful online engagement with fans. We’ll have to wait and see.

Spyglass really [frick]ed its own IP to death. Say what you want about Scream 5 and 6 but it still was decent additions to the franchise and revived it. Then their POS Zionist CEO fired Melissa for saying genocide is bad and torpedoed his own film to end up making the worst Scream film ever with 7.

Sure, it made a crazy amount of money, but you can bet they’re never making that kind again with this franchise.

I’ve never missed seeing a Scream film in theaters and I’m for sure skipping this one. Franchise has been reduced to CW levels of bad writing/acting/editing and I doubt these sisters will change that.

@TheLobster - Here we go...

Ok, everyone, so it was only a matter of time before one of these bigots name dropped Melissa Barrera.

Let's get @Sominan in here with rest of her Jewish hate brigade and we can get it over with and discuss the film.

Let's be real, it was inevitable with these monsters, so let's just go through the Melissa Barrera motions as quickly as possible.

Never heard of them, but cool. Always down for another Scream movie. Hopefully they'll bring some new energy to it.

For some reason I thought they were already locked in to direct 8. As long as it isn’t Williamson.
