Teaser Trailer for THE HOST

A very non-revealing teaser trailer for Stephanie Meyer's The Host.

You in-the-closet "Twilight" fans have another guilty pleasure coming your way. I didn't know this, but apparently Stephanie Meyer wrote something else other than "Twilight". Yup, it's called "The Host", and it too is being made into a movie. Unlike "Twilight", this one doesn't seem to have come to Stephanie in a dream, but rather from other science fiction stories that other people wrote.

Mr. Stephen King, your criticism of Stephanie Meyer is looking truer everyday.

THE HOST is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

"The Host" is written and directed by Andrew Niccol. His past exploits include such forgettable works as "The Truman Show", "S1M0NE", and "The Terminal". The film also stars Max Irons, Jake Abel, Diane Kruger, William Hurt, and Frances Fisher. The Host opens on March 29th, 2013.

They lost me at "From Stephanie Meyer: Author of the Twilight Saga". Reminds me of a sci-fi tv show or something. Not an actual movie

well it's official...this trailer was posted on this site at least an hour before DEADLINE got it up

Come on, cut 'em some slack. Deadline's been around longer. It needs to take a little blue pill an hour before getting anything up.

On topic, I actually read this book. Parts of it weren't half bad, but it always fell apart when she'd try to delve into the main characters 'relationship' with her beau (I can use that word, right? Or does that cost me geek points?).

...I liked the Truman Show.

I have read the book and I can promise, this story is far from the (horrible) twilight saga. It was long, but it was pretty much better and thrilling without sparkling vampires and big giant dogs. I hate meyer for twilight but this was much different- in a positive way and it made me to continue reading it. The major character, Wanda is an alien who slowly becomes friendly with the human beings, thats a different story compare to the shitty story of twilight (both books and movies). I would see the host because I have a feeling this might be much better than twilight, much much better!

Andrew Niccol's past exploits also include the memorable Gattaca, which he wrote & directed.

@JillValenfield

I feel you're missing the point of most Twilight hate.

Yes, Meyer pretty much crapped on the fantasy/horror genre with her terrible interpretation of what a vampire/werewolf is and congealed a female lead protagonist so unfathomably worthless that Meyer might have, single-handedly, set back all of female existence...Ultimately, it's just bad writing.

Twilight is difficult to stomach for any literate mind.

I don't know, maybe the Host was better written, not just story and character-wise, but structurally as well. It's not often you see a complete turn-around in writing styles, but if Meyer has managed to pull it off with this book...

Oh, who am I kidding? It's probably crap too.

The Host is cool! Is it a reboot? But with the monster coming from outer space? :-P
BJD
BJD - 3/23/2012, 3:03 AM
@Hulkman: you'll notice I didn't mention Gattaca. However, Gattaca was Andrew Niccol's first movie and seems all his creative gas got used up on that one. Poor man has been running on fumes ever since
