DCU Batman, Superman And Wonder Woman Secrets? James Gunn Says His New Skydance Boss Knows All

DC studios co-chair James Gunn reveals new Skydance boss David Ellison now knows all DCU secrets as fans wonder about the slate post-Man of Tomorrow.

Previously, James Gunn stated that the only two people who knew all of the DCU secrets were himself and co-Ceo Peter Safran.  Not even former WB CEO David Zaslav knew all the ins and outs.

However, it seems that the insider count has now increased from two to three.

While walking the red carpet for the premiere of Clayface, James Gunn was asked how his first sit-down with his new boss, Skydance Chairman and CEO David Ellison, went.

"Oh yeah, David knows everything," James Gunn stated. He went on to add, "We told David, long ago. We went through everything that we had..well, we didn't go through everything we had planned but we went through what the basic plan was. And then when we sat down with him, when he first brought us in, and he said he wanted us to continue with what we're doing, we told him- all he wanted to talk about was what was happening, what were the secrets, where was the DCU going, what was going to happen from Man of Tomorrow on. "

Up next for the DCU is Man of Tomorrow, where David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult's Superman and Lex Luthor are going to be forced to team up to stop Lars Eidinger's Brainiac in the  July 9, 2027 pic.

Recently, Gunn revealed that he's already writing his next DC Studios feature film while simultaneously editing his Superman follow-up that he distinctly says is not a sequel.

Other superheroes appearing in the film include:

  • Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific
  • Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern
  • Aaron Pierre as John Stewart/Green Lantern
  • Isabela Merced  as Hawkgirl
  • María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer
  • Milly Alcock's Supergirl
  • Xolo Maridueña as Blue Beetle
  • Adria Arjona as Maxima or Wonder Woman
  •  Sinqua Walls as Martian Manhunter (rumored)
  • Matthew Lillard as King Faraday (rumored)

No DCU films currently have a firm, official theatrical release date assigned after Man of Tomorrow, as The Batman Part II and Dynamic Duo are confirmed to be Elseworlds titles.

Projects in Development with no confirmed release date include:

• The Brave and the Bold (DCU Batman film)
• Untitled Bane & Deathstroke Project (Savage Hunters)
• Teen Titans (Written by Ana Nogueira)
• Swamp Thing (Directed by James Mangold)
• Untitled Wonder Woman project (Written by Ana Nogueira)

Sounds good…

I genuinely think in hindsight that initial slate reveal was a bad idea since as we have seen , things can change which leads to delays , holdups etc.

However I do hope we find out about the post MOT lineup for the DCU soon and hopefully it’s about films/tv shows that are quite likely or pretty much 100% certain to come out sooner then later so fingers crossed!!.

@UltimaRex - Idk, James Gunn talking all honkey dory about David Ellison, his ideas for the future with all these films below but just "in development" and yes we don't even know WHAT THIS IS. Yet? Is hilarious since what we see is a mixed bag of DCU bullshit that constantly plays the hint Easter Egg game like it's 2011 again.

• The Brave and the Bold (DCU Batman film)
• Untitled Bane & Deathstroke Project (Savage Hunters)
• Teen Titans (Written by Ana Nogueira)
• Swamp Thing (Directed by James Mangold)
• Untitled Wonder Woman project (Written by Ana Nogueira)

Those films are ONLY in development BTW...but hey...THE PEOPLE VS GORILLA GRODD! DC fans are just dying for shit like this

@Irregular - ah, so it's the lack of information you hate?

@UltimaRex - It lacks me giving a flying fuk about characters I love.

You know who Batman is? More Batman villains getting the silver screen treatment than Batman? BATMAN SIDEKICK HEADLINING A WHOLE TEAM BEFORE A BATMAN MOVIE? Shit a SUPERGIRL MOVIE....before Batman?

Shit gotta hand it to them with the whole "James Mangold is working so hard on Swamp Thing script" excuse...PFFT LMAO.

@ObserverIO - if we're going by contracts, April 2031.

A full extension is obvious at this point.

Idk why james says mot isnt a sequel, is he implying its a prequel or alternate dimmension story?
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 10/15/2026, 7:33 AM
@lazloyaegar - trying to distance themselves from Superman, act like it's a false start and MOT is the real beginning.
UltimaRex
UltimaRex - 10/15/2026, 9:11 AM
@lazloyaegar - a direct sequel is continuing the same story with the same focus on the same characters. Empire is the sequel to Star Wars.

A continuation like MOT shifts focus to another character in the same universe. A more extreme example is The Batman/The Penguin, but MOT has Superman in it.

@ObserverIO - Nobody is trying to distance themselves from S25.

This ends with KC.
Tonal shifts will be made.

@ObserverIO - why though?

lazloyaegar - 10/15/2026, 9:14 PM
@UltimaRex - yeah but James himself said its about superman and lex, so he is partially wrong about it not being a sequel.

@lazloyaegar - because it didn't exactly make a splash did it?

If I were Gunn I wouldn't trust in anything that Ellison says or promises.
