UPDATE: Lanterns: Hal Jordan Wears His GL Mask And Laura Linney's Guardian Debuts In Episode 3 Teaser

UPDATE: To accompany the teaser, DC Studios has released a new character poster and promo featuring Ulrich Thomsen as the villainous Sinistro.

The brief promo includes more of Hal Jordan's meeting with his former mentor, which will presumably open next week's episode.

Lanterns episode 2, "Trust Fall," is now streaming, and HBO has released a teaser for next week's third episode.

We've seen Hal Jordan in his Green Lantern suit a few times at this stage, but fans have been wondering if the ring-slinging hero would don his classic domino mask. It seems Jordan used to wear the mask, as archival news footage confirms, but whether he'll suit up in his full costume in the present timeline remains to be seen.

The promo also reveals that we will learn more about John Stewart's troubled history, as the GL Corps recruit meets with the debuting Laura Linney as one of the Guardians of the Universe.

John believes he knows why the Guardians chose him, but Sinestro's warning to Hal in the closing moments of episode 2 suggests that there may be more to the alien overseers' decision to bring the former marine on board than he realizes.

“I immediately recognized the enormity of the opportunity and the gift that it is to engage with, first and foremost, this character and this world," Aaron Pierre said in a recent interview with THR. "And being the first live-action [John Stewart] is also something that I recognize the magnitude of,” Pierre says. “So it was very nerve-wracking, but I have a history and a habit of intentionally seeking out things that unnerve me.”

Mundy serves as showrunner. The first two episodes are directed by James Hawes, with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov also tapped to direct. The series is executive produced by Mundy, Lindelof, James Gunn, Peter Safran, King, Ron Schmidt, and Hawes. Based on the DC comic characters from Green Lantern.

The series stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, Nathan Fillion, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones.

The series follows new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Hope there is at least one extended (action) sequence with either of them wearing the mask proper for the audience to see (hopefully Hal at least). It'd make so many people happy.

@IAmAHoot - When excitement becomes bargaining over how little you're willing to accept.. you're no longer expressing enthusiasm, you’re watching the psychology of disappointment protect itself.

@Dahulk2001 - What on Earth are you talking about?! It's just something I'd like to see; at no point a deal-breaker. I had forgotten about the mask entirely, it's so unimportant to the story, until this headline.

Is Mark trying to beat Josh in the spoiler game??
Wildings been trying to ruin Sh💩t for over a decade for a couple dollars. Don’t be a Josh, Mark. At least don’t put spoilers in your titles.

Suits looks decent. It’s too bulky. Need to streamline it a bit and it would look better.

Sinestro is looking great, really looking forward to seeing more from him.
Wish it had the white gloves and it could be tightened up in a couple of places like the shoulders, but it's a solid look. The green and black colors are really good too.

Hal doesn't die. Remember the story went out of it's way to show us that the power ring stores a backup consciousness of Hal Jordan that is merged with the ring's native artificial intelligence. They can flex this to some sort of way to bring him back from his apparent death.
