Jonathan Majors made his MCU as a Kang Variant known as He Who Remains in the season 1 finale of Loki, before returning as "The Conqueror" in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
In the post-credits sequence of the Marvel Studios threequel, we met even more Variants (including Immortus, Rama-Tut and Scarlet Centurion), and got a brief glimpse of a massive assemblage of Kangs in the closing moments of the scene.
This week's episode of the Disney+ series will introduce (well, reintroduce) Victor Timely, one of the earliest incarnations of Kang who may or may go on to become He Who Remains. There's been some speculation that this take on the villain may actually be the "Definitive Kang," but it seems he's yet to make his presence felt.
"I love all the Kangs, I think Kang's a great character. I don't know that we've seen the definitive Kang yet, in terms of what I would envision the definitive Kang [to be]," director Dan DeLeeuw tells Screen Rant. "I think there's still someone yet to come out of the shadows."
It was generally assumed that Quantumania's Variant was being set up as the MCU's main Kang, but he was soundly defeated by Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne at the end of the movie. DeLeeuw appears to be hinting at the imminent arrival of the all-powerful Conqueror who will claim the spotlight in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but will he show up during season 2 of Loki?
We'll just have to wait and see, but episode 3 might just give us a bit more to go on!
