THE ADVENTURES OF CLIFF BOOTH: Brad Pitt Is Back In Action In First Trailer For David Fincher-Directed Spinoff

In a surprise drop no one saw coming, Netflix has debuted the first official teaser trailer for David Fincher's The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which will feature the return of 2x Academy Award-winner Brad Pitt as stuntman extraordinaire Cliff Booth.

It will be an official continuation of Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, this time following Pitt's fan-favorite Booth as he gets into more fun misadventures that will further expand on his legend.

Pitt won an Oscar for his portrayal of Booth in 2020

The screenplay for the sequel was initially derived from Tarantino’s now-discarded project, The Movie Critic. Initially conceived as a 1970s-set tale about a reviewer at a seedy magazine, The Movie Critic was also intended to involve Cliff Booth. However, in the course of writing, Tarantino grew increasingly interested in expanding Booth’s role, eventually going so far as to craft a narrative that departed significantly from his original plan. When his script took shape as a distinct story, Tarantino passed it along to Brad Pitt, who was intrigued by the direction Booth’s character would be heading.

Tarantino didn't want to personally helm this new film - and make it his final directorial effort - so he suggested that Pitt seek out another director, and Pitt reached out to his friend and frequent collaborator David Fincher.

In addition to Brad Pitt (Fight Club; F1), the star cast features Scott Caan (Ocean’s Eleven; Hawaii Five-0), Elizabeth Debicki (Tenet; The Crown), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen; Aquaman), Carla Gugino (The Haunting of Hill House; Gerald’s Game), Holt McCallany (Mindhunter; Fight Club), Corey Fogelmanis (Girl Meets World; Ma), JB Tadena (Kung Fu; Hacks), Karren Karagulian (Uncut Gems; The Florida Project), Timothy Olyphant (Justified; Deadwood), Barry Livingston (The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet; Zodiac), Lauren Glazier (Mindhunter; Gone Girl), and Peter Weller (RoboCop; Star Trek Into Darkness).

No word on whether Leonardo DiCaprio will reprise his role as Rick Dalton, but it was previously rumored he could appear in some capacity, although it was far from a done deal. Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate was not part of the original script, so we wouldn't count on her returning.

David Fincher (Fight Club; Se7en) helmed the spin-off, with a screenplay from Quentin Tarantino.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth will debut on Netflix and in select theaters later this year!

I'm a Tarantino junkie but it's David Fincher directing that has me most intrigued (along with another re-team with Brad Pitt).

@IAmAHoot - Fischer is my favorite director. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favorite Tarantino film. I cannot believe this movie is real. I'm just so excited.

@IAmAHoot - The trailer defintiley has the Fincher aesthetic... didnt even think about it being related to the Tarantino movie until afterwards.

@Robby - Yeah, umm, David Fincher is directing it, so it shouldn’t matter if it’s only available to watch on the Home Shopping Network.

@Robby - so it’s something you might be interested in but because it’s Netflix, automatic skip? Or did you not even see the trailer? 🤷‍♂️

I dig it , the teaser’s got a very “The Nice Guys” vibe to it imo!!.

Also nice way to get around the censors with the static bleeper for the curse words & such.

A Tarantino script directed by Fincher sounds amazing. Bring it on

I'm all in.

They could age him up a bit and insert him into the O.J. killings.

Make him the Forest Gump of a stunt man always bumbling into historical situations.

I was utterly baffled by this commercial, and IMDB still lists F1 as Pitt’s most recent. This is the first I’m discovering what this is, and I am 100% on board.

Im a die hard Tarantino fan. I had to go on wiki to make sure the script was from Tarantino. If it wasn’t I had no interest in this film but I saw that he wrote it so sign me up.

I am watching the limited theatrical release if Netflix does it in Germany.
Otherwise i probably won't watch it ever.

"The Adventures of Cliff Booth will debut on Netflix"

Fuсking [frick]. With names like Tarantino, Fincher and Pitt attached, I didn't expect that. I'll still watch it though, because those named alone are worth checking out imo.

@bkmeijer1 - It doesn’t matter it it’s on Netflix or in theatres as long as it’s good that’s all that counts. Daredevil began its run on Netflix and if you watched the first three seasons I don’t think you were complaining.

@SuperClark - I wasn't complaining then because I still had Netflix. Now I don't, so I'll definitely try to watch on the big screen.

Massive Tarantino and Pitt fan. This looks slick and with David Fincher at the helm can’t miss. Who cares if it’s on Netflix. This is the future now. Most films are made for streaming platforms. Cinema is a dying industry.

@SuperClark - Doesn't mean we have to be happy about it. Dudes on here HOWL about a Black dude playing Man At Arms in the He-Man movie. I think the death of the film industry as we've known it for 100 years is worth a little wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Guess a rewatch of the original film wouldn't be bad before seeing this, sequel?

It looks good and also very unlike anything David Fincher has done before as well.
