Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Without Remorse, Anne Boleyn) is set to join Bodies Bodies Bodies star Amandla Stenberg in the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte.

Turner-Smith is only the second cast member to be announced for the project after Stenberg, and while we know the latter will play the lead, further details on both of their roles are being kept under wraps.

Leslye Headland is on board as showrunner.

We still don't know very much about The Acolyte, but the series has been described as "a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era."

Official plot details have not been shared beyond that, but there have been plenty of rumors! One report claims that Emperor Palpatine's Master, Darth Plagueis, will factor into the story in some capacity, maybe even as the Acolyte of the title. Palpatine himself is unlikely to appear since the show is set long before he came to power, but based on everything we've heard so far, the show will primarily focus on the Dark Side of the Force and the eventual emergence of The Sith.

Turner-Smith received acclaim for her performances in Queen and Slim and After Yang. She was recently rumoured to be in line for a role in Kraven the Hunter, but Ariana DeBose was ultimately cast as Calypso.

The Acolyte is expected to begin shooting in London later this year.

I find it very funny that the staff of this website decided to disable comments (for like a day, lol), due to "toxicity" as though it's not obvious who/what the problem is. If you would just IP ban anyone saying racist or transphobic crap, you would see the entire tone of the comments section immediately become much more positive. But god forbid you actually stand up for something and grow a spine.

@TUD - best idea I've heard yet. I WAS gonna say "get a hacker to hack the computers of all the racist and transphobic people, and force their computers to play biracial transgender porn whenever they log into it", but your idea is better.
