I was born in Burbank across Buena Vista Street from Disney studios. My dad was an animator for Walt & Co. from 1937 to the early '50's, then a production manager until he retired in 1972.
I started collecting mostly Silver and Bronze age DC and Marvel comics at about age 5. At least once a week I would take my allowance down to the used book store and buy a pile of whatever titles looked good. I drew a few of my own comics in my teens and early 20's based on the style of R. Crumb, then played music "professionally" (OK, I eked out extra income and partying $) from 1980-2000. I had several interesting day jobs over the years, which has now led up to me as a teacher, with a Master's degree in early childhood special education and a couple teaching credentials. I still read digital comics several times a week, and plan to sell the thousand or so comics left of my childhood collection someday. But I refuse to grow up!
