Yep.
About 8000 years ago when they were in their prime, after killing a mastodon they'd go to the river and they'd see their reflection in the water. Confused and terrified they'd smash at the water with clubs to kill the "water demons".
The other less retarded cave men thought it looked like fun. And ever since mankind has improved on screen quality and user friendly controllers.

Oh man, that X-Men arcade game where you could play as all your favorite characters: Cyclops, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Storm, and of course the one all the kids fought over, Dazzler.
