Thanks to a new Street Fighter TV spot, we finally have our first look at M. Bison pulling off his devastating Psycho Crusher, the Shadaloo villain's signature move that's infamous for corner-trapping unlucky players in the long-running fighting game.
This time around, the head of Shadaloo is played by David Dastmalchian (Dune, The Suicide Squad, Ant-Man).
His casting immediately drew comparisons to the legendary Raúl Juliá, who played Bison back in the 1994 film. While that original movie was a mess, Juliá's campy, fully committed performance became iconic.
Dastmalchian definitely has big shoes to fill, but seeing him fly across the screen engulfed in purple psycho energy is a pretty great start.
In a previous interview with Collider, the Ant-Man and The Dark Knight actor revealed his initial conversation with Sakurai, when the role of Bison was offered, stating, "'I’m not the big, imposing titan that you think of when you think of M. Bison,'" recalled Dastmalchian, of that initial phone call. According to Dastmalchian, Sakurai replied,"...that’s not the story I want to tell."
According to the scene-stealing supporting actor, the Street Fighter movie will show, "Why would people follow Bison to the depths that they do to make Shadaloo come to its fruition?...And I can’t wait for people to see how that happens.”
Originally scheduled to be released in the United States on March 26, 2026, Street Fighter is now currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 16, 2026.
The confirmed cast for the movie now includes:
- Noah Centineo as Ken
