Nintendo just announced the saddest news possible for their fans: Satoru Iwata, president of the company for the last 13 years and only the fourth president of the company overall, has passed. He suffered from a bile duct tumor and even though the condition was treated last year, things went awry recently and required another surgery. Unfortunately complications arised and Iwata passed at 55 years of age.

Iwata was beloved amongst fans and was responsible for many of the successful products and ideas that Nintendo had in recent years. He was responsible for leading the company when it created the highly successful Nintendo Wii console,  the revolutionary handheld consoles Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. As of now both Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda, senior managing directors of Nintendo, will hold things together at the company until a new president is announced.

I used to be a major Nintendo enthusiast when I was young. I don't play much Nintendo now but this is still sad news to hear. Rest in peace. I wish nothing but the best for this man's family.

I was talking about this news earlier and its just sad. Whatever you have to say about the Wii U and how it isn't as powerful as the Xbox One or PS4 doesn't change the fact Iwata brought in some cool new games, like Splatoon. Best wishes to the family in this time of great sadness and loss.

@lvnhi

It doesn't take a blood for me to feel something with someone's passing. Based on the comments, I'm not alone. I admit, it is marginally comic book related, but the guy was a pop-culture icon. This site and Nintendo share a similar audience.

@TheAstoundingMan
Sounds like you need to get your emotions straight then, maybe the Wii has a game for that. He was far from a pop culture icon and is actually responsible for leading the company into its current downfall. I'd be willing to bet it's the first time 99% of these people commenting have even heard of this gentleman.
Steve Jobs was a pop culture icon. But this is getting entirely off the subject and why I even first commented. It's not comic book/movie news and stating that is far from being a "Prick" as you say. Hope I'm not being to harsh, I know you're in mourning.

also, you do realize this site posts many things not even pertaining to comics but the audience and similarities that everyone here shares. are you gonna bitch and moan when a Game of Thrones article pops up? you're aware its a book and not a comicbook property right?

@Melkaticox
Thank you for the info, and in all industries there are well known people. I just disagree that it should be an article on this site and made a simple none agrees ive comment about it.

@Himura
Never seen or read it,but am very aware of its origins.Hey but good try. Oh and if you consider my one comment before being called a Prick is " Bitching and moaning" then you need to reevaluate how you come to that decision.

Have a good one
