X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Star Olivia Munn Reveals Battle With Breast Cancer: "We Caught It With Enough Time"

In a lengthy statement posted to her social media accounts, X-Men: Apocalypse star Olivia Munn has confirmed that she's spent the past year or so battling breast cancer. Find her story in full here...

Olivia Munn rose to fame when she hosted G4's Attack of the Show!, and after jumping to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, she later embarked on a successful acting career which has included roles in the likes of The Newsroom, The Predator, and X-Men: Apocalypse.

In the latter, she played Psylocke and did a fantastic job with the fan-favourite mutant. Unfortunately, she didn't return in Dark Phoenix and, while it's possible Munn will reprise the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, her time as Betsy Braddock likely ended back in 2016.

While we'd love to have some positive news on that front for you, Munn has taken to Instagram today to reveal she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sharing a lengthy message with fans, the actress explained, "I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I hope by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support on their own journey."

"I wouldn’t have found my cancer for another year – at my next scheduled mammogram - except that my OBGYN, Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi, decided to calculate my Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score. The fact that she did saved my life."

Explaining she was diagnosed with an "aggressive, fast moving cancer" called "Luminal B," Munn said, "I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next. I’m lucky. We caught it with enough time that I had options. I want the same for any woman who might have to face this one day. Ask your doctor to calculate your Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score."

Munn confirmed she had a double mastectomy to combat the cancer and it sounds like she's had a really difficult time of it over the past ten months.

"I'm so thankful to my friends and family for loving me through this," she added. "Thank you to the friends who've had breast cancer and the friends who connected me to friends who've had breast cancer for guiding me through some of my most uncertain and overwhelming moments."

Thankfully, it sounds like the X-Men: Apocalypse star has made a full recovery and beaten cancer. We wish her continued good health and, if you'd like to learn more about cancer, you can do so by visiting the American Cancer Society or Cancer Research UK websites.

She's going viral on tiktok right now for being a diva? Rude? Something for being mean to some cleaning ladies.

I have followed her since her G4 days so I’m glad to hear that she’s on the mend…

I haven’t followed her acting career much but the parts I have seen her portray have been fine imo , she’s done as well as she could with the material she had (Psylocke was pretty much a glorified henchwoman in Apocalypse but she captured the physicality of the character).

Anyway , I recently saw that she was cast alongside Jon Hamm for an Apple TV+ show from the creator of Banshee & Warrior so she seems to be making a comeback professionally aswell after this so good for her!!.

[frick] Cancer!!.

Wishing her a full recovery and best wishes.

BTW Josh: "Morgan Le Fay was NOT dreamed up by writer Stan Lee and artist Joe Maneely".

Morgan Le Fay is a pre-existing character from Arthurian mythological fiction that goes back thousands of years. Borrowed by Stan-the-Man and Joe Maneely.

You're welcome.
