Those of a certain age will probably have seen the animated Fire And Ice from the 80s. It was made by Ralph Bakshi, who also brought us the animated LOTR, and was co-created by iconic artist Frank Frazetta who sadly passed away last week. I loved it back in the day, but watching the trailer again(see below) makes me think it may have dated..just a little!

Anyway, apparently director Robert Rodriguez is a big fan and has been trying to acquire the rights for years so he could bring us a live action version. Well, now he has. According to Total Film the plan is to..

.. turn the cool, rotoscoping original (directed by Ralph ‘animated Lord Of The Rings’ Bakshi and co-created by artist Frank Frazetta) into a live-action reboot.

Sounds like a damn good idea to me. Sure its another reboot, but I don't think there will be too many people complaining about this one. My only issue with it is that aside from Sin City I've never been a big fan of Rodriguez at all. But still, I hope this happens. Casting picks? Something tells me people will have the most fun thinking of someone for Teegra:)

The original movie is available now on special edition DVD and Blu-Ray from Blue Underground. Thanks to IGN for the pics.
