Theories about Avengers: Doomsday's Latverian Witches have dominated the conversation since they were first revealed at San Diego Comic-Con in July. Now, we may have finally learned who is beneath their respective masks.
While the most popular theories point to them being Sylvie, Clea, and the Scarlet Witch, it seems they may just be...Latverian Witches.
Stunt performer Stevie Parker's listing on the British Stunt Register has been updated, revealing that she doubled for Sandra Hüller, Katya Hazel Boirand, and Josie Pocock in Avengers: Doomsday.
Hüller, who recently starred in Project Hail Mary, is obviously the best known of the three. Boirand has appeared in Citadel, and Pocock had small roles in Barbie and The Running Man. While not confirmed, there are rumblings that these are Avengers: Doomsday's three Latverian Witches.
If so, it seems we can forget about any big reveals or returns, making it hard not to wonder why the Russo Brothers have given Doctor Doom these three newly created followers. They must have some role to play, and it's previously reported that at least one will be unmasked as Peggy Carter when Doom messes with Steve Rogers' head.
"Doom's magic is an ancient magic. He is a very powerful character. He's a genius. He studies his foes. He understands them, and he's also well-planned," the Russo Brothers recently shared. "He's not somebody who just does something off the cuff. Everything is meticulous with him."
The filmmakers added, "He knows that if he's going to step on a battlefield against somebody, he has to have the tactical advantage or a power advantage against that person. So he's very difficult to beat."
In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.
Avengers: Doomsday stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr. Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Mabel Cadena, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, India Rose Hemsworth, and Wesley Holloway all make their Avengers franchise debuts.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps leads Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn join them, along with X-Men franchise stars Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden, plus Deadpool & Wolverine star Channing Tatum.
The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18.
