Funko has officially revealed the first wave of Avengers: Doomsday Pops, bringing some intriguing story details. The biggest is Lord Doom, a version of Doctor Doom who is wearing Latverian regalia and seems to be the Victor Von Doom from before he became a villain.

Trailers for the movie have established that Doom was once a good man and an ally to the Fantastic Four on Earth-828, so it seems we'll get flashbacks to the time before his accident (which is likely why he and his nation were absent from First Steps' United Nations scene).

These new collectables also show a new Fantastic Four vehicle labelled their "Jump Jet," and a Doctor Doom figure that's bundled with young Franklin Richards. That has to be a noteworthy plot point, right?

Elsewhere, the X-Men are showcased, including a glimpse of Nightcrawler's teleportation powers. Steve Rogers, meanwhile, wields Mjolnir, and Shang-Chi utilises the power of the Ten Rings for the first time since his solo movie in 2021.

Doom is not just an adversary. He is ambition and fear woven together. In Secret Wars, he tries to hold reality in place through sheer will. He believes he can save everything if he controls enough of it," the Russo Brothers previously said. "[Jonathan] Hickman reveals the strain behind that effort and the human fragility beneath the armor."

"Even someone who can reshape existence cannot escape the emotions that define him," they continued. "We have always been drawn to characters who walk that line. People who reach for something noble and lose themselves along the way. Sometimes, destruction does not arrive as a single blow."

"It arrives through decisions made in uncertainty and through fractures between people who want the same thing but cannot find their way to each other. That is its own kind of ending. It is quiet, painful and incredibly human," the filmmakers concluded.

If Doom gets the Thanos treatment this December, we can expect the MCU to get a villain who is even better than the Mad Titan. Kang the Conqueror was meant to be this Saga's big bad, but Doom subbing in at the last minute could prove a genius move on Marvel Studios' part.

I look forward to alternate versions of doom as long as they look good. The classic sixties design can look dated if taken too literally.

It would be nice to see one attempt at the fully smooth plate armor look, however.
