It's Official: Paramount Completes $110 Billion Warner Bros. Acquisition To Become Skydance

After clearing one final hurdle, Paramount has completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, becoming "Skydance," a media empire that holds the rights to countless properties, including the DCU.

Well, like it or not, it's happening.

It's been announced today that Skydance Corporation (Paramount) has completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, creating a combined company named "Skydance." Netflix, who?

The company brings together two major film studios, two global streaming services, a premier television portfolio including CBS, HBO, and Paramount's and WBD's cable networks, two of the industry's most recognised news networks, CBS News and CNN, and a portfolio of live sports including CBS Sports and TNT Sports, as well as a deep programming library and expansive collection of brands and franchises.

The $110 billion transaction closed following receipt of all required regulatory approvals under the merger agreement and satisfaction of other customary closing conditions.

David Ellison, Chairman and CEO of Skydance, said, "Today is a historic day, not just for Skydance but for our entire industry. From the start, our ambition was to bring these two storied studios together and create a stronger competitor, with the talent, resources, and reach to tell great stories in every genre, on every platform, for audiences everywhere. Now that ambition is a reality."

"We're grateful to everyone who made this possible – the employees, creative talent, and production teams of both companies, who worked tirelessly to get us here and inspire audiences around the world every day, as well as the advisors and partners who guided this transaction to completion."

He continued, "Our focus now turns to the future: building a company that empowers creatives, entertains audiences and rewards shareholders. We couldn't be more excited to get to work."

Gerry Cardinale, Founder and Managing Partner of RedBird Capital and a Skydance Board Director, added, "This is a defining moment for the industry. By applying our owner-operator model to Paramount and WBD's unmatched portfolio of iconic franchises, premium original programming, and live sports rights, we can protect that legacy while building for a media landscape that's undergoing transformational change."

"David, our Co-CEO Ynon Kreiz, and the rest of our world-class Skydance team have the vision and track record to lead through this change. We're proud to back them as we build a stronger Hollywood, expand opportunities for talent, and create long-term value for our shareholders," he concluded.

As we reported earlier this week, James Gunn and Peter Safran will remain in charge of DC Studios. Their contract status isn't clear, though it's previously been reported that their current deals are in place until April 2027.

In terms of film rights, Skydance now owns the rights to franchises like Star Trek, DC Comics, Harry Potter, Transformers, Game of Thrones, Mission: Impossible, The Lord of the Rings, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It will also hold the distribution rights to Dune, Minecraft, and the MonsterVerse.

That barely scratches the surface, and Skydance is now one of the biggest media conglomerates in the world.

@Thing94 - see you at the midterms, sport.

How are gas prices near you?
How is your insurance?
Food prices at your grocery store…pretty good?
How’s that ‘no new wars’ thing going for you?

But sure… publicly cheer on a billionaire nepo baby using his daddy’s money to buy himself a movie studio. Bravo.

@Rpendo - About as bad as the last administration. Don't think we haven't forgotten Bidenomics.

BTW, I remember the last administration, people were hell bent on saying Biden had nothing to do or had no control over gas prices or the price of the food we buy, but two years later, all of a sudden the new guy at the WH does? How does that work?

bobevanz - 10/6/2026, 11:06 AM
@IronMan616 - let me educate your stupid ass: Trump botched the covid response and because of that, the govt had to print seven trillion dollars to put into The economy or else we were going to have a depression. This is also around the same time when Putin thought he could be a big boy and end Ukraine, even promising the war will last one day. And here we are years later. You can look back and see that every single time a republican gets in charge, the debt rises,
prices rise, and nothing is fixed. Then as soon as they're out of office they can blame the Democrats for everything as if people have short-term memories and they don't remember who just [frick]ed them. And then there's gullible dumb shits like you. November will be the [frick]ing best month in the history of this country

@Thing94 - Unfortunately, it will make no difference. Paramount’s Trek stuff was full of stuff like trans Klingons so I don’t think anything will change at all. These studios are filled with activists. We may get more content overall, but will that be quality without the agenda or “message”? I doubt it

TL;DR Inflation from monetary policy and the Ukraine war producing a diesel shock DURING a pandemic
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 10/6/2026, 11:11 AM
@Rpendo - Well, the border is secure, tens of thousands of violent criminals have been deported (giving us the lowest murder rate in history), inflation is still way below Biden’s record 9.1 percent high, the war seems to be cooling and Iran’s nuke program was nuked (making the world safer), and our economy is still doing well. As far as my costs here in NYC, we’ll, my electric bill is insane but that’s all thanks to our Dem Governor putting in place insane green energy regulations and shutting down oil pipelines to appease her billionaire donors green investments (my in laws in Florida pay a small fraction of what I pay in taxes and electric). So, things are pretty descent except for the policies of the Dems

@bobevanz - Odd you weren’t saying that when Biden could have done that, especially since Trump did release thousands of those files.

@bobevanz - Is that a self image because Trump did the best he could with something this nation has never experienced before and was doing all he could to open America back up and get the economy moving again. Then Biden came in and his puppet master kept everything closed while spending like drunk sailors sending inflation to a record 9.1 percent

@bobevanz - The only thing he got right their are that politicians are puppets. That billionaire BS is pure propaganda with zero basis in reality meant to use class warfare to divide. It’s the politics of envy and jealousy. No one’s success equating else’s failure.
