With Daredevil: Born Again set to end with Season 3, that and VisionQuest are currently the last Marvel Television series confirmed for a Disney+ launch in what's left of the Multiverse Saga. The latter will conclude the WandaVision trilogy, bringing Ultron back to the MCU and introducing the mysterious Jocasta.
In the comics, Jocasta is the Bride of Ultron and eventually becomes a card-carrying member of The Avengers. However, based on what we've seen in trailers, this take on the character will be a villain like her creator.
In an interview with Collider, VisionQuest showrunner Terry Matalas praised Foundation and The Fall of the House of Usher star T'Nia Miller, who is bringing Jocasta to life in the Disney+ series.
"We have purposely kept her character out of a lot of the promotion of the show because T'Nia's performance is revelatory," he teased. "Chilling, nuanced and even a little heartbreaking. I can't wait for everyone to see it."
A new promo for VisionQuest has also been released, teasing the mystery of how Tommy made his way out of the Hex and into the real world. Fans who watched Agatha All Along know the answer, of course, but it seems like a pivotal plot point in this series.
A new still showcases Vision and his fellow AIs in the Mindscape. Addressing their role in the series, Paul Bettany previously said, "They’re there to help him. He is attempting to move about in the world in a small way, and then at night download this data and discuss the things that have happened to him with these different AIs, who have different characteristics and help him understand different qualities and skills."
He continued, "But he is also very much using it as an excuse to keep the world and himself at arm’s length. And of course, events conspire to drag him actually into the world."
In VisionQuest, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponise him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron.
His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision's son, reincarnated. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron's influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.
VisionQuest stars Paul Bettany, James Spader, Ruaridh Mollica, Todd Stashwick, T'Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, with Emily Hampshire and James D'Arcy.
VisionQuest is created for television by Terry Matalas, based on the Marvel Comics. The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, Terry Matalas, Jac Schaeffer, and Christopher J. Byrne, and the producer is Roopesh Parekh.
The series premieres on Disney+ on October 14.
