Rumor: Avengers: Secret Wars Will Feature The Long-Awaited Return Of This Incredible Superhero

As Marvel Studios gears up to begin shooting Avengers: Secret Wars in the UK, a new rumour claims that one incredible—and occasionally divisive—superhero will return to the MCU next December.

Tatiana Maslany made her MCU debut in 2022's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Over four years later, the character hasn't been seen since, despite rumours that she would appear in Deadpool & Wolverine and Captain America: Brave New World.

Leaked Avengers: Secret Wars concept art showed The Hulk, She-Hulk, and Skaar in Greenland, an area of Battleworld inhabited entirely by Hulks. The Russo Brothers have said that artwork isn't necessarily indicative of what they have planned for the movie, so where does that leave the Jade Giantess?

Well, if scooper @MyTimeToShineH is to be believed, She-Hulk is "officially" returning in 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars

We don't have any additional details, but it would make sense to tee up She-Hulk's role in the movie by having her among the heroes who make a surprise appearance in Avengers: Doomsday later this year.

Currently, She-Hulk is one of many characters notable for their absence in the upcoming ensemble. Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Nick Fury, Scarlet Witch, Doctor Strange, and Ms. Marvel are among the most noteworthy examples.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is said to have amassed 1.5 million US viewers during its first four days on Disney+, which was in the ballpark of most MCU TV shows at the time. It likely wouldn't be particularly cost-effective to bring She-Hulk back to streaming, but if we do see her play a prominent role in Avengers: Secret Wars movies, that franchise may be where Jennifer's future lies.

Marvel Television has committed to making multi-season TV shows moving forward. Even if She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was a hit, there has been no indication that shows like it, Moon Knight, or Ms. Marvel might be revisited with second seasons this long after originally debuting.

The series premiered on Disney+ to mostly positive reviews. Despite a lowly 32% on the fan-generated "Popcornmeter"—widely believed, but not confirmed, to be a result of review-bombing—critics have awarded it 80%, which is the equivalent of 4/5 or 8/10.

Asked in May about her potential MCU future, Maslany said she feels that "the character is outside of what I feel like the corporation is doing," meaning she is open to returning as She-Hulk, despite butting heads with Disney over Jimmy Kimmel Live!'s brief cancellation.

The actress continued, "I love She Hulk, and I loved what [Attorney at Law creator] Jessica Gao did with her. I feel like it was very loyal to the comics and all of that. "If there was a space where it made sense for her to come back... I mean, I don't know anything, and I do think that the internet will know before I do."

The confirmed (or semi-confirmed, at least) cast of Avengers: Secret Wars includes Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), and Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter).

Also appearing are Pedro Pascal (Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing), and Sadie Sink (Jean Grey). The Thunderbolts* cast is also expected to return.

The Russo Brothers direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, with whom they previously collaborated on the Avengers and Captain America franchises. Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness writer Michael Waldron has also been enlisted to refine the story, alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive on December 17, 2027.

No one wants her. She ruined a beloved character.

@Bucky74 - Everyone blames the actress but I think everyone else involved ruined that show. So many feminists under one writers room it looked like the Lindsay Clancy Juror list

@Bucky74 - no she didn't, Disney+ did. Tatiana played the character well, even with horrible writing.

Of all the new characters, she's the one I want the most. And it's not just her character that makes me want her. Her presence harkens the coming of a new real avengers TEAM.

Yeah, I thought she was actually great in the role

They can make her work, and it's not hard. Make her a cool hero. Stop making her treat everyone like an "I'm better than you bitch", and show her being better than everyone else, while helping others be better. She'll be fine.

Here's a quick cheat sheet. Take Jessica Pearson:

The problem isn't with the actress. She was just fine in the role. The problem isn't with the character. Jennifer is a fine character. The problem is, and this is the case with so many of these shows... The writers. They simply can't divorce their ideology from a good story.

These characters exist merely as a conveyance of delivering that ideology. The crazy part is, they could absolutely slip their world view into these stories, and the audience would accept it. We have had messaging in entertainment forever. The problem is they aren't skilled enough to understand how to do that.

So we end up with clunky cringe.

Show didnt work, but it had it's moments where it showed it could've under better direction. I think Masalany deserves a moment to shine, and if the leaked SW concept art is to be believed, the Russos were already planning on it.

It really is a damn shame this played out the way it did with the tv shows. It’d be awesome to have Kate Bishop, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and honestly even Wonderman in the actual MCU. That Hawkeye series and Moon Knight especially could’ve been great movies after trimming unnecessary bs to lead up to an Avengers team up

"Long-Awaited"

Really?

Honestly, they could recast She Hulk and no one but the internet activists would notice. No one watched that show.

Methinks most people who hated She-Hulk have never actually read a comic book. And definitely not a She-Hulk comic.
